Ever since it opened, the Andyz Fish and Chips (AndyzFC) poker room at the posh premises of Indranagar in Bengaluru has been the eye of controversy and now the room has once again seen a change in ownership, amidst further speculations of credit issues.

The place was originally called the High 5 poker room, run by Uma Mahesh and Raghavendra ‘Raghav’ Rajanna. In March 2014, the room had hosted a tournament, The House of Spew (THOS). The tournament was followed by complaints of players not receiving their dues. While the THOS organizers immediately came forward to clarify their stand, the room owners were missing and silent on the issue.

In July the same year, it was announced that the room was taken over by Andy Morgan and renamed as Andyz Fish and Chips. It has now emerged that Morgan has quit the place amidst further credit controversies and that the room is now being run by partner Mahesh Gowda as a family affair, along with Muralidhar and Rajanna.

PokerGuru had a chat with both parties – Andy Morgan and Mahesh Gowda. Morgan claimed that there have been differences in the partner’s vision of how the business should be run and therefore, he has separated from the room since November 20, 2015, with the room running since then under the new Phoenix poker room management. Morgan further asserted that he had full ownership of the brand, “AndyzFC” and would be starting another venture shortly at Jayanagar, with a new partner and a patented poker product.

Speaking on the credit issues plaguing the room, Morgan clarified that the only dues remaining were due to outstanding payments to be made by a Mumbai player, Amar Jhadhav and that he had already settled 50% of these and that the rest would be settled soon.

Gowda confirmed that the two partners had moved their separate ways and that the newly named Phoenix room was now being run as a family business. Gowda however claimed that the credit had been issued as a company and that he had personally settled all dues, except for two players, which Morgan had taken the onus for.

A recent email release by partner Rajanna announced that the Phoenix poker room was now operational under “experienced professionals” and running tournaments since last week, which had received a “good response from players”. The room is currently running an ₹1K daily tournament at 12 pm, besides larger buy-in events on weekends.
