Darren Elias Wins 2nd Borgata Title at Fall Poker Open Main Event For $293,062

US-based pro Darren Elias (cover image) aka the “End Boss” added yet another Borgata title to his resume by taking down the Borgata Championship Fall Poker Open $2,700 Main Event on November 23. Elias pocketed the first-place purse worth $293,062 for his finish after defeating Mark Kaganovsky in the heads-up battle.

The three-time WPT champion, Elias had claimed his first Borgata title in 2014 at the WPT Borgata Championship where he won $843,000. Now, with this latest score, his lifetime live cashes have surpassed the $5 million mark.

The Main Event attracted a strong field of 473 entrants with the top 45 places making it in the money. Notables who cashed but fell shy of making the nine-handed final table included Mike Wang (14^th for $11,470), Zachary Gruneberg (16^th place for $9,601), Nick Schwarmann (23^rd for $7,112), Joe McKeehen (25^th for $7,112),Aditya Prasetyo (36^th for $6,309), and Christian Harder (45^th for $5,725).

Elias first busted Patrick Maritato in ninth place with Brett Apter following suit shortly thereafter.

Shankar Pillai was looking strong but unfortunately exited next as Elias busted him with his ace-jack dominating the formers ace-nine.

Dan Wach was the next to fall followed by short stacked Mickey Woll. Woll was down to just five big blinds but in spite of finding a couple of double ups; he bowed out in fifth place.

Paul Lambrakis was the next casualty when he moved all-in with after Elias opened the action. Eventual runner up Mark Kaganovsky joined the action with a call holding and Elias folded. Lambrakis didn`t get any help on the board and exited in fourth place.

Elias next showed the door to Keven Stammen in third place. Short-stacked Stammen jammed with pocket deuces and Elias called tabling . Elias clipped a pair of sixes on the board to eliminate Stammen, setting up the heads-up battle against Kaganovsky with an overwhelming chip lead.

The eventual runner up Kaganovsky put up a good fight and even recovered most of the chip deficit with some timely aggression but unfortunately that’s all he could do as Elias eventually triumphed. On the final hand Kaganovsky flopped a set of tens, but Elias completed a straight on the board to emerge victorious!
