Players who are probably still getting over the sorrow of the IPC Jan edition ending or having missed it, here comes a shot that is sure to ease the pain – The IPC April Schedule! To be hosted during the Easter weekend, this event too is set to be a grandly attended affair.

Yes, the IPC is coming back on April 1 – 5, at the Deltin Royale Poker Room, Goa, with a Mega Satellite and four featured tournaments. Once again, the poker festivities will begin with the ₹6,000 Mega Satellite. This Re-entry event will offer a guaranteed five Full Weekend packages to winning participants, which will include entries to all side events and a seat to the Main Event.

IPC has cancelled it earlier announced March edition, due to the heavy player-traffic experienced in the Jan events. The organizers believe that they can accommodate more players, by streamlining the process and planning for a larger player-field. Peter Abraham, IPC Co-Director says, “Obviously the response to the January event was outstanding. But while that was fantastic, we did have to turn away a fair number of players who we could not accommodate. We’ve been going over player feedback and hopefully the April event will be a lot more streamlined providing an even better player experience.”

Abraham further added that this time too, the IPC would be collaborating with Thrillpoker.com, for online satellites to its events, which are expected to start by the end of next week. He said, “We’ve had a very positive association with the folks at Thrill and are happy to associate with them for the April event.”

As last time, the ₹5,000 Warm Up and ₹10,000 Weekend Kickoff events will continue and roll out on Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3 respectively. The 2-day ₹30k Big Game main event will begin on Saturday, April 4 and a champion will be crowned on Sunday, April 5.

The only change in the schedule is the ₹10,000 Super Knockout event, which replaces the earlier ₹12,000 headhunter bounty. IPC is introducing an exciting new format for its upcoming series i.e. Super Knockout, where the buy-in will be split in half, with 5,000 going to the prize pool and the other 5,000 going to a player, whenever he knocks out an opponent. Rajeev Kanjani, IPC co-Director said, “Our bounty event, the Headhunter, is a player favourite and we thought of taking that up a notch higher with this format.”

Speaking further, Kanjani added that in the April edition, barring the Mega Satellite, all the tournaments would be freezeout events. He reiterated that these changes were incorporated after player feedback and stated, “Again we have gone by feedback received post the January event, where there was an overwhelming majority of players who wanted to play only freezeouts.”

Tournament ScheduleAnd for those wondering, the Players Party is definitely on, as last time to be held after the Mega Satellite. Abraham states that “We initially thought of doing the Players Party as a one-off for the January edition but people had such a good time that we felt we should make the party a regular thing. It’s a good way to chill out before the ‘serious’ poker action begins.”
