Michael Zhang Ships GUKPT London For £113,000, Muskan Sethi & Aditya Agarwal Make Deep Runs

Poker season is in full swing in London, with the Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour (GUKPT) taking over from the start-of-the-year PokerStars Festival London. Returning for its 11th consecutive season, the GUKPT London was held at the illustrious Grosvenor Casino Victoria ‘The Vic’ poker room at the city’s Edgware Road.

The highlight of the series, the £1,100 buy-in Main Event £200,000 GTD saw a huge entry-crowd of 435 and defeating them all was Michael Zhang (cover image) who took home £113,000 for his impressive finish.

An exciting array of events drew players from across the world including our Indian Challengers, led by Team PokerStars Pro Aditya ‘Adi Agarwal’ Agarwal, who has been in London the past two weeks. Aditya hopped into the series after his stint at PokerStars Festival London and made a deep run in the GUKPT Main Event finishing 22nd for £3,000.

It was a thrilling day for India, as Muskan Sethi final tabled at eighth place for £10,400, besides, Aditya and Rajiv Sakaria who cashed £3,000 each at 22nd and 23rd places respectively.

 

£1,100 Main Event

It was the largest-ever entry crowd at the GUKPT Main Event with 435 players and the top 40 finishers made a piece of the £435,000 prize pool, with a min-cash being worth £2,200.

Several of our Indian players were in the fray including Aditya Agarwal, Muskan Sethi, Rajiv Sakaria, Sanjay Patel and Vikas Sabharwal. And, three of them all went on to make deep runs among the finishers.

The first to cash among the Indian`s was Rajiv Sakaria who was busted at 23rd place by Zapatero Gomez. On the flop of , Rajiv moved allin for 100K and Gomez called. Rajiv had for two pair but was lacking against Gomez’s . The turn and river of ended the contest with Gomez gaining the pot and Rajiv exiting with £3,000.

By sheer chance, Aditya was the next to exit and went out at 22nd for the same amount of money. Soon enough it was time for a nine-handed final table!

Among the lower-mid stacks, Muskan Sethi was eliminated by Javier Zapatero.

On her last hand in the event, Muskan Sethi moved all in for 420,000 and Javier called.

The board revealed and Javier’s queens held up to see Muskan exit at eighth place for £10,400.

Javier went on to reach heads up two hours later in a face-off with Michael Zhang that he could not win. The final hand saw the flop open and Javier bet 100k, while Michael called. At the turn of Javier bet another 325,000 and Michael again called. The river had with Michael checking for a third time. Javier moved all in for 1 million and Michael insta-called. Javier had for jack high, but it was no match for Michael’s nut flush that got him the title and a payday of £113,000. Javier Zapatero made a runner-up finish for £74,000.
