Dennis Thurman Wins RunGood Tunica $575 Main Event

The RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) Old West tour opened to its first stop at Horseshoe Tunica and, besting a field of 536 players in the $575 Main Event, Dennis Thurman took home the first-place prize of $61,640, in addition to other spoils of victory, a pair of cowboy boots and a custom RGPS belt buckle!

Lowerysent most of the players out from the final table and the duo clashed heads-up for the title with Lowery poised close to victory holding a 3-to-1 advantage in chips. Thurman however, was quick to turn the situation in his favor. He doubled up early against Lowery and went on digging at his opponent’s stack. Towards the finale, Lowery looked strong with his card 2card 3 against Thurman’s card 3card 1 but Thurman flopped a set and collected the pot. The final hand saw Thurman`s card 3card 3 against Lowery’s card 3card 1. Thurman first flopped a pair and then clipped a three-of-a-kind kings on the card 2 turn to lock up the title.
