PokerStars has recently announced further changes in a range of its services, including policies, VIP programs, promotional offers and more.

The announcement was made on Nov 1 on the PokerStars blog, where Eric Hollreiser, Vice President of Corporate Communications for Amaya Inc, stated that, “PokerStars today unveiled a comprehensive plan to enhance the playing experience and to re-emphasize the fun and social aspects of online poker while attracting and retaining more players to the game.”

Hollreiser added that poker being a fun game, the company felt it was its duty to ensure that all players, recreational and professionals, should enjoy the experience as much as possible.

Changes in VIP Programs

The major changes have been made to its VIP programs, which will now have a new currency called “StarsCoin” and would have a constant value, rather than a variable one.

It was stated that the current FPP currency system would be altered and a new VIP Steps program introduced.

This will simplify the reward system and enhance its visibility during play, so that players can follow their progress in real time,” it was reported.

The new VIP program is expected to be implemented by Jan 1, 2016 and a dedicated site would be floated with all the details.

Additionally it was stated that the current VIP Club rewards would be restricted at the 30% mark and it is expected that this would mostly affect players on the higher rungs, such as those who had reached the status of Supernova and Supernova Elite. However, there would be changes for players of other levels as well.

Rewards would continue to remain the same for VIP status players from the BronzeStar to GoldStar levels, but those at the PlatinumStar level would get 10% less in overall rewards.

Players who had already reached the Supernova Elite status or would reach it by the end of 2015, would get higher rewards. However, these rewards would be restricted at the 45% mark in 2016.

It was also announced that pot-limit and no-limit games with blinds of $5/$10 or higher, 8-game with limits of $10/$20 or higher, and other limit games with blinds of $10/$15 or higher would no longer be eligible for VPPs.

Additional Changes in Third-Party Software Policies

Last month, PokerStars had announced changes in its third-party software policies and now it was reported that these would be further enhanced. The exact details of these additional changes were not given, butare expected to be announced by 2016.

Last month the site had said that heads-up displays (HUDs) would be “no longer permitted to display non-numerical data, categorize players, or dynamically display statistics specific to a certain situation.”

The site had also decided to disallow programs that calculated the various ranges of hands against another, while the PokerStars client was open.

In this latest statement, Hollreiser mentioned that, “Today, we want to make clear that the line will be drawn to preserve poker as a battle of wits and a test of heart. This will only have a direct effect on a small proportion of players and builds upon our responsibility to provide a level playing field for all players.

Enhanced Marketing To Attract New Players

Hollreiser also commented on the company’s decision to increase investment in innovative marketing campaigns, which would include their latest star joinees, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr. The campaigns are expected to be the biggest global ones, ever made in the history of the company’s marketing efforts.

Investments in research and development will bring new innovations to the game beginning in the first half of 2016 and continuing throughout the year to increase play from existing customers and attract new players,” Hollreiser added.

Ever since Amaya took over the Rational Group, which owned PokerStars and Full Tilt, the sites have been witnessing a range of changes and it certainly looks like the company is not yet done with its plans to ramp up its future plans.
