PokerStars announced a rake increase for select games on its corporate blog yesterday. Posted by Eric Hollreiser, VP, Corporate Communications, Amaya, the post states that the changes have been wrought in lieu of the current business scenario. “Following a review of the current business environment and the pricing policies employed across the competitive landscape for online gaming, PokerStars will change its pricing for select number of games in its shared liquidity market” Hollreiser writes.

The increased rakes will come into effect from March 28, 2016 and will apply to select games only. Despite the increase, PokerStars will still have some of the lowest rake in the market, as compared to other similar sites mentioned the blog.

Overall, the changes will see the rake increase by 4% and the blog states that PokerStars would continue to review and monitor its games, and make further price revisions accordingly.

A chart has also been displayed to display the rake differences at PokerStars, Partypoker, 888poker and iPoker. The chart has been made by PokerStars after sampling one million ring game hands played on PokerStars from January 8 to March 7, 2016 and applying each site’s rake to get results.

Additionally, it was reported that the stakes where players at PokerStars benefitted the most as compared to competitors, were the stakes where the highest volume of hands were played.
