Just as the 2018 World Poker Series (WSOP) is on full throttle through the dazzling and magnificent poker corridors of the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, comes the news of another flagship tournament series. After WSOP 2018 concludes in July, closer home, one of the most popular poker festivals in Asia, the 2018 Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Manila will kick off in Manila on August 4 and run through August 12.

PokerStars and APPT have come out with the full schedule for the nine-day tournament series to be hosted at the PokerStars Live Manila poker room featuring 22 official Asia Player of the Year events. Headlining the series will be the APPT Main Event that features a ₱55,000 buy-in and a whopping ₱20 Million prize pool guarantee, apart from three other prime events i.e., the APPT National (₱5,000,000 Guarantee), APPT Megastack (Shot Clock & Big Blind Ante) and APPT Saturday SuperStack (₱3,000,000 Guarantee).

The series will offer more than ₱37 Million in guaranteed prize money that includes the additional, dazzling catch of four coveted PSPC platinum passes worth $30,000 each! The winners of each of the aforementioned headline events will bag a Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) to be hosted in the Bahamas in January 2019. The Platinum Passes include a $25,000 event buy-in, accommodation at the Atlantis Resort and USD $2,000 to cover travel costs.

As has been the norm, a strong Indian contingent is expected to be in attendance at the series. APPT has been a fertile ground for Indian camp these past few years and they will certainly look forward to jump into action in Manila right after the long summer grind in Las Vegas.

We set a record earlier this year with the Manila Megastack 9 becoming the largest and richest Manila Megastack in PokerStars LIVE Manila history and we have every expectation that APPT Manila will follow suit,” said Mark Blake, Department Head of Live of Events, Asia Pacific.

“The PSPC Platinum Passes have been very well received so far and the four we’re giving away at APPT Manila represents over 6 million in added value alone”, Blake elaborated.

The APPT Main Event in 2017 held the record of the largest international tournament with a buy-in of ₱30,000 or more in the history of Philippines. The event attracted 594 entries and generated a prize pool of ₱28.8 Million!

The tournament series also include other star attractions including the ₱200,000 High Roller event that allows unlimited re-entries and uses the Big Blind Ante and 30-second Shot Clock formats that were well received by players who participated in the PokerStars and the Monte-Carlo Casino European Poker Tour early in 2018. The APPT Kickoff (₱3,000,000 Guarantee) is another event to watch out for.
