Rahul Byrraju Moves to Day 3 in WSOP Event 58, Akash Malik and Lawrence Sanjay Finish in the Money

Rahul Byrraju (cover image) has been a busy man this week Byrraju finished 20th in WSOP Event #56: $2500 No-Limit Hold`em cashing $21,326 and is once again in the spotlight with another deep run in Event 58: $1,111 Little One for One Drop No-Limit Hold`em. Byrraju is presently in 29th position with 249,000 chips amidst 67 survivors who will re-convene tomorrow to play down till the final table.

Event 58 saw the Poker elite lining up to take their shot at the WSOP bracelet and the re-entry format of the event saw several players making multiple entries which made the final count stand at a staggering 4756 entries. Eliminations however were also equally fast and the starting field dwindled to just 1,016 players at the end of the two starting flights i.e. Day 1A and 1B. Topping the leaderboards were two Indians with above average chip stacks going into Day 2 – Akash Malik (57,400) and Rahul Byrraju. Byrraju put his aggressive playing style to good use and won big pots to reach Day 3 comfortably. Akash Malik however could not survive the day’s onslaught and busted in 190th place. He posted his bust-out hand on Facebook; “Busted 190th….AK vs AA in the blinds…..happy with the way I’m playing…..main event Sunday”.

The other Indian to cash in the money was Lawrence Sanjay who finished in 379th place and cashed $2,054. Incidentally this was Sanjay`s 2nd cash at this years` WSOP. Sanjay placed 192nd in Event 24 to win $2,640.

While the main draw of the series – WSOP $10,000 buy-in Main Event is just a few hours away, we are certain that the Hyderabad based Rahul Byrraju will have his own dedicated rail tomorrow when he sits down to resume play on Day 3 of the WSOP Event 58 at 12pm (local time).
