This IPC will be remembered as a trailblazer in the history of Indian poker tournaments. From the opening day itself, the series has witnessed unbelievable player-crowds and the 2-day ₹30,000 Big Game Main Event broke all records for the highest turnout for any Indian poker series Main Event ever. Mumbai based cash game player Sumit Asrani (cover image), beat an entry field of 212-players to claim the winner’s share of ₹13,50,000.

The ₹12K Headhunter Event was the only event with no guarantee and received an amazing response of 176 entries creating a prize pool of ₹14.96 Lakhs. It was also the only event that allowed re-entries.

Speaking about the massive turnout, Peter Abraham, IPC co-Director stated, “The full import of what has happened in this week is yet to sink in for us. Record breaking turnouts in every tournament including a 200+ field for the Main is testament to just how much the sport of poker is growing in this country. We hope to build on these numbers throughout 2015.”

Originally, there were three events planned for Sunday – Day 2 of the Main event at 2pm, the ₹6,000 6-Max Freezeout tournament at 6 pm and the 12K Headhunters Bounty event at 8:30 pm. However, due to the prodigious influx of players at the Main event, play for Day 1 was stopped at 5:30 am on Sunday morning, with 32 players remaining. It was further decided by the organizers to resume Day 2 play later at 6 pm and to cancel the ₹6K 6-Max Tournament.
