After a couple of overly lazy months I am finally getting into the right mindset to play poker and I am finally getting the results. This edition of the PokerGuru Tour was a huge disappointment for me. The structures were really good and allowed you to play comfortably without it becoming overly long or grindy. I felt like I made only a few mistakes throughout the series and none at all during the Main Event where I ran awfully. Nonetheless I didn’t have much to show for it except a 2nd place in the 12k Bounty Event and I returned to Cal slightly disappointed and still waiting for a big day.
Thankfully it seems like yesterday was my big day! It’s funny how after ages of grinding low and mistakes tourneys waiting for the big scores and feeling like they will never come, you end up hitting two in the same hour. I have improved a lot at the turbo format and finally last night I finished 2nd in the Hot 11 and took down a tough 8.8R 2x Turbo tournament.
Perhaps the most important thing I realized yesterday is that you DO NOT have to do anything special to win tourneys, especially turbos. So long as your short-stack technique is correct, all you have to do is wait for people to donate their chips to you in the early stages and then be relentlessly accurate and observant when the blinds get high. I am really looking forward to moving up a bit in stakes online and hopefully continuing the good run. Cheers!!
