I am really sorry I haven’t blogged at all for a while. This is mainly because I have been on an absolutely crushing downswing throughout April. It has seemed like I lose every single big flip and almost every time I built a big stack and even chipleads early on my immediate thoughts have been “How is it going to vanish this time?” I put in good volume in April but deep runs were few and far between. I ran especially bad at the higher end of my buy-in range and couldn’t win critical flips deep in the Big 55, Big 109 and Sunday Warmup…even a couple of different cards or my opponent reconnecting a second later on the Final Table of the 11+R 60k Gtd would have seen an entirely different result.
As a result I decided to take a couple of days off at the beginning of the month and decide what to do now that I have a significantly reduced roll and my confidence had been dented a bit. I have relaxed a bit and decided that with the SCOOP coming up, it didn’t make sense for me to step down limits immediately online. If I run really badly during the SCOOP, the worst case scenario is that I bust most of my roll and have to step down to 2.5$ 180 mans and rebuild it. That’s not pleasant, but I can handle it and if I need to as and when the situation arises I will play even 200 a day if needed to build my roll back up. So I have decided to grind the SCOOP and online during May, put in my best effort and hope things work out.
On a far more pleasant note, I haven’t played live poker in a long while and I am actually looking forward to it. This month is huge because the PGT is taking place along with the UPC which has promising guarantees and of course the APT Goa which is taking place near the end of the month. I am really looking forward to playing these and doing good.
To add to all of this, the PokerGuru Mentorship program is beginning in a few days and I’m really looking forward to it. I have never been coached for MTTs before and never even had a HH fully reviewed in my life! As a consequence I am sure my game has a bunch of leaks that I haven’t even noticed, in addition to the volumes of spew that usually come up. I am really looking forward to learning systematically and being able to eliminate a lot of the basic errors I might be making at the moment, and making the jump to being a really good player. May is gonna be absolutely massive as far as poker in India is concerned and I’m really looking forward to it.
