Online Bankroll Management

Hi guys,

With online poker picking up rapid pace all over, participants enrolling into Spartan bankroll challenges in huge numbers and with massive competition in the field of poker, it is very important for a player to start focussing on how to manage and maintain one’s bankroll. Here I try to explain a few basic rules to help a beginner build and manage his/her bankroll.
1. Play within your roll
With a wide range of tables running online, it is very important for one to selectively make a good decision on which table to grind on. As a standard rule, one should stick to having less than 5% of his/her bankroll in play on one table at a time.
2. Don’t monitor your balance
Making money is a slow grind and losing money is a quick drop. Constantly checking your balance is not a good practice and should be avoided as much as possible. Upswing can boost one’s confidence and make one feel good but a bad beat can make the numbers go down and destroy the spirit of a player.
3. Treat the game seriously
It is of utmost importance that a player should be fresh and willing to compete on a poker table, rather than sitting just to recover or out of bordem. Even if one is not involved in a hand, it is quite crucial for him/her to follow the action happening around for accessing on to important information which could later help him to make better decisions, and this is only possible if a player can limit distractions and focus fully and seriously.
4. Integrate a tilt-induced kill switch
There can be a number of reasons for a player to tilt, and when one feels a sign of tilt, no matter how slight or seemingly harmless it may appear to be, it is advisable to take some time off, get up and do something else.
Always remember that this beautiful game will always be around tomorrow, but once your roll is gone, it’s not coming back!!
