Swimming with the sharks

Hi Guys,

Been a while since i last blogged. This year has been pretty eventful for me so far poker wise. Moved up to midstakes, stumbled down and back to micros again. One good week and few more Final tables and i see myself back pretty comfortably in mid stakes. Gradually, the buy in factor is fading away from my game. What i mean is i would play way more scared in a $30+ game than in a $5 game. I just had this idea in my mind that players at this level were all pros and i am the lucky fish who’s come to swim wid them. Well, in the small duration i have been playing them now, i can see how wrong i was in my thinking. And hence, not so scared anymore.

I had an amazing last week. Final tabled 3 tourneys, 12th in big 22, 14th and 39th in 54KO and 27th in $22 12k gtd. As a matter of fact, i was able to final table the Turbos and just fall short in the reg speeds. Why? Well mostly because i am not so confident of my deep stack game. Despite having 40B stack wid 30 ppl to go, i would be scared of busting whereas in a turbo i am confident of shipping it even wid 11 BB with 50 ppl to go.

This brings to me the biggest leak i have. I hardly review my game. I don’t remember having reviewed any of my tournies by myself. I just keep playing. I have decided to review at least one deep run a week as of now and get started with the process. I hope to get better with my deep stack game ASAP for i cant afford to run deep and bust out with just 4-5 BIs. All these hours for peanuts… naah not good. Atleast i need to make myself able to battle with the regs for that 1st place.

Till next time, Cheers!
