The Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) ₹j100K High Roller had a smashing opening on Friday evening. The event logged in 118 entries and when the clock was paused, only 33 among them bagged a stack for Day 2. Ending the day in pole position was PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja.

Ahuja has only two days back, taken down the series-opener, 10K Kick-Off. Though he wasn’t one of the early entrants, Ahuja treaded an upward climb all through the day to bag a monster stack of 601,000.

Trailing Ahuja in chips is another seasoned pro Raghav Bansal (460,000) while stable-mate Rohit Mishra (454,500) rounds out the top three stacks.

PokerBaazi also had a strong showing in the event with PokerBaazi Team Pro Abhishek Rathod (420,000) and PokerBaazi CEO Navkiran Singh (410,500) both carrying big stacks to Day 2. We also saw former BPT champions Gokul Krishna (261,500) and Rohit Jinwal (132,500), as well as two more PokerGuru Ambassadors Ashish Munot (274,000) and Ankit Wadhawan (105,000), secure their berth on Day 2.

Day 2 will resume at Level 16 with the blinds at 2,500/5,000 and ante 5,000. With registrations open till the start of Level 17, the field is likely to expand further.

A firecracker of a day has come to an end! Logging in 118 entries, Day 1 of the ₹100K High Roller played till the middle of Level 15. The day ended with 33 runners left in the fray.

Even as the action was wrapping up for the day, it seemed like PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja was not going to miss the chance to win more chips. When the defending BPT High Roller champion Rohit Jinwal limped in, the player in the small blind (SB) bet 1.8K and Ahuja 3-bet it to 4.2K. Jinwal folded, while the SB called. The SB checked the flop and Ahuja fired a bet of 82K. The SB tanked for over five minutes, before deciding to shove the ace-high flop. Ahuja promptly called and flipped over , while SB turned over pocket queens. On the river , Ahuja politely said ‘Thanks!’ before collecting the pot, as the SB got up to vacate his seat.

Just when the play was about to halt for the night, Uday Moola was eliminated at the hands of PokerBaazi CEO Navkiran Singh. Moola limped, Siddharth Karia and Anmol Mehta called and Singh bet 18K. Moola called and everyone else folded.

After the flop, Singh bet again and Moola called. On the turn Singh bet 54K and Moola called. The river brought the and Singh jammed with . Moola hero-called with and outdone by Singh, hit the rail.

Short-stacked Amarnath Reddy shoved with and was called by Rishab Veharia`s . The rundown saw Reddy hit a set of fours on the flop, securing him a much-needed double up.

Soon after this, the clock was paused with the tournament director calling upon for the last four hands of the day to be dealt on each table.

PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik Ved opened to 76K, keeping 500 in his hand. Fellow Team Ambassador Rohit Mishra called from the cutoff. The flop brought and Ved put in the 500 he had behind in the pot, automatically going all-in. Mishra called and turned over . Ved tabled . The remaining two streets brought the and and that was the end of Ved – who will now have to re-enter to get back in the game.

Abhinav Iyer limped, Shashank Jain completed his small blind. Nikhil Jain made it 11K. Iver shoved, Shashank folded and Nikhil called. Iyer showed versus Nikhil’s . Iyer’s ace-high held through the runout securing him a double-up.

Krishna Kumar opened to 6K and Aditya Sushant 3-bet to 22.5K. Kumar called to see the flop . Sushant fired a bet of 16K and Kumar raised it to 32K. Sushant re-raised it to 85K to see Kumar move all-in. Sushant called, putting his tournament life at risk.

Kumar was already in the lead with his flopped set of tens. The turn and river improved Kumar’s hand to a full house, eliminating Sushant.

Ankit Jajodia opened UTG for 6K and Santosh Suvarna called from the middle position. The player in the big blind also called to see the flop . All three players checked to see the turn . Jajodia checked again and Suvarna bet 23K. The big blind folded and Jajodia too mucked his cards, as Suvarna raked in the pot.

The inaugural BPT Main Event champion Puneet Dua was up against the player in the middle position. After the flop , both players checked to see the turn . Dua led out for 10K, the MP called to bring us to the river . Dua bet 20K and the MP called yet again. Dua shoved and took down the pot revealing as his opponent mucked his cards.

Neel Joshi shoved from the hijack for 24,500 and Nishant Sharma re-popped it from the cutoff. Young Gun Siddharth Karia, who was on the button, called making it three-way to the showdown.

Almost immediately after winning a big pot from Nikhil Jain, Sriharsh Doddapaneni dismissed Aditya S. The former open-raised to 7K from the button and Aditya jammed from the small blind. Doddappaneni tabled against Aditya’s . The on the runout gave Doddapaneni two pairs of queens and treys, busting Aditya who can still re-enter to get back in the game.

Nikhil Jain’s were pitted against Sriharsha Doddapaneni’s . The runout saw Jain hit two pairs of aces and treys, but it was no match for Doddapaneni’s rivered flush, and the MTT specialist raked in the pot.

Jyoti Ranjan Nayak opened to 4500 from the cutoff seat, PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh went all-in for 56k from the small blind holding but unfortunately for him Nayak woke up with pocket kings and held to knock Singh out of the event.

Minutes before the fourth break of the night, PokerGuru Ambassador Madhav Gupta was eliminated at the hands of his good friend Vikram Kumar. Gupta had become short-stacked and was down to his last 20K. Kumar opened and Gupta shoved with ace-ten. Kumar who held ace-queen called it off and kept ahead to bust Gupta!

It has not been the best of days for PokerGuru Ambassadors and one of the latest team members to hit the rail was Nadeem Basha.

With the flop open , Nishant Sharma leads out for 4K, and the Millionaire Legends champion, Anish Patra is the only caller. The turn brings the and Sharma continues the aggression with a bet of 10K. Patra calls again. The river gets checked around. Sharma tables for ace-high, while Patra shows for a rivered pair of tens, and collects the pot.

On a flop , Sajjan Gupta moves all-in from middle position with . Navkiran Singh calls for 38.3K with and spikes the on the turn to take the lead. The on the river bricks for Gupta and Singh scores a double-up.

Its been approximately 20 minutes now that the BPT 100K High Roller has crossed the 100-player mark. The play is currently on Level 11 with the blinds at 800/1,600 with the tournament clock showing 104 entries so far.

Only 73 among them still remain standing in the field but the numbers will change since we can expect many players to join the action or re-enter. There are nearly three hours left before the chips are bagged for the day and as expected the play is still chugging along at a slow pace.

Sahil Chuttani has just been eliminated at the hands of Vikram Freeman who held pocket queens versus Chuttani’s . It was off to the races and Freeman came out on top after turning a set on the rundown , dominating Chuttani’s two-pair.

Santosh Suvarna and Apoorva Goel came up against each other yet again and this time Suvarna raised it to 2.5K from the hijack. Goel moved all-in from the big blind. Suvarna called. Goel tabled against Suvarna`s pocket tens. The board panned out getting Goel the pot!

Jagadeesh Pamidi clashed with Aditya G in a preflop all-in showdown with his pocket nines pitted against Aditya’s . The board brought a king for Aditya who doubled-up, while Pamidi hit the rail.

Santosh Suvarna opened to 1.6K from under the gun, Vaibhav Sharma in middle position called before Apoorva Goel made it to 6.3K, Suvarna called while the other player folded.

On the flop , Suvarna checked his option, Goel lead out 5k, Subarna called. The turn was checked around to see a river . Suvarna checked again, Goel went all-in for 15k and Suvarna called. Goel tabled for a pair of kings to double up.

Rohan Dhawan has just entered the High Roller and he amped up the aggression on the very first hand that he played. Dhawan bet 3K and found a caller in Abhinav Iyer. The flop fell and Iyer checked but Dhawan raised to 5K, evoking a snap-fold from Iyer.

The defending BPT High Roller champion Rohit Jinwal in the field making a strong bid to defend his title. The last hand saw him opening the pot to 2.2K and next to act Harsh Dembla moved all-in. Jinwal called with and Dembla showed . The dealer fanned out the , eliminating Dembla.

Dembla headed straight to the registration desk and re-entered the tournament.

With the board open it was Rishab Vekaria`s pitted against J. Raju`s . The river brought the and Vekaria’s king-high straight sent Raju packing! Given Raju`s recent form we just might see him re-entering the High Roller.

Vikram Freeman open-raised from the button for 2.5K and Jasven Saigal called to see the flop open . Saigal checked his option before Freeman raised it to 3K. Saigal made it 10.5K to call and Freeman obliged to get to the turn. Saigal checked, and Freeman bet, forcing Saigal to muck his cards.

After winning a pot off PokerGuru Ambassador Nadeem Basha, Raghav Bansal set his sights on another Team Ambassador Jayjit Ray.

The hand saw Sriharsha Doddapaneni open the action from the UTG for 1.4K. The player on the cutoff seat called. Ray came along for the ride with a call from the button as well. Bansal defended his big blind, making it four-way to the flop . Bansal led out for 1.8K. Doddapaneni and the player in the cutoff folded but Ray raised all-in. Bansal called it off tabling against Ray`s . The turn and the river completed the board and Ray’s turned full house trumped Bansal’s two-pair!

We got to the action when both Raghav Bansal and Ravi Pamidi were on their backs, Pamidi holding against Bansal’s . Pamidi was rooting for a four but the board blanked out, and Bansal’s cowboys knocked Pamidi out. With re-entries open, Pamidi can still get back in the game.

Over on one of the tables, Shashank Jain won a pot off Sajal Gupta. He lost the next one to Alok Birewar and on the third hand, Jain came up against PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik Ved.

Jain opened the action from the hijack with a bet of 1K and Ved made it 2.5K from the button. The action folded back to Jain who called. The flop was checked by Jain but Ved led out 3K. Jain called to see the land on the turn. Ved fired a big bet of 10.5K, sending Jain into the tank. Jain eventually folded, and Ved added more chips to his growing stack.

Uday Moola limped in and BPT Kick-Off champion, PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja made it 1.8K to call. Abhinav Iyer called and PokerGuru Ambassador Rohit Mishra 3-bet it to 9K. Moola called and was effectively all-in for 7.3K. Ahuja shoved over the top, getting Iyer and Mishra to fold. Ahuja showed versus Moola’s . The board ran eliminating Moola.

With late registrations and re-entries open till the end of Level 17, Moola still has the option to re-enter.

Kunal Patni just scored a huge double up in a hand where Gokul Krishna opened for 500, and next to act Patni made it 18,000. Krishna called. The flop of was checked by both. After the turn, Krishna checked, Patni bet. Krishna check-raised and Patni shoved. Krishna called and the river completed the board.

After the turn Patni fired a bet of 800 and Ved called it off. The completed the board and Ved now made it 1.4K sending Patni into the tank. He eventually folded, sending the pot Ved’s way.

The field is expanding and there are now 28 players in the High Roller. Given the deep structure of the tournament, the action is understandably slow.

We recently saw a contest between Zarvan Tumboli and Gokul Raj. With the flop open , Tumboli bet 500 and Raj called to see the turn card open . Tumboli once again led out for 1,200 and Raj called. Indulging in some friendly banter, Tumboli said, “maanta nahi hai.”

With the board open , Sriharsha Doddapaneni bet 15K with pocket queens and Anuj Yadav called with . Yadav hit three-of-a-kind on the board for an early spin up.

It’s been a slightly slow start in the ₹100K High Roller. It’s already 30 minutes into play and only 16 players have bought in but this number should go up soon. Day 1 features 15 levels of 40-minutes each so the action should carry till 3 am on Saturday morning. Late registration ends at the end of level 17 on Day 2.
