The ₹15K Big Bounty was the second event on Baazi Poker Tour’s (BPT) January 2020 edition and registered 193 entries, collecting a guarantee smashing ₹17,56,300 in the prize pool.
The top 24 places were assured payouts and it was old-timer Myron Pereira who had to wear the tag of becoming the unfortunate bubble boy.
The event was scheduled to play out all the way through the 20th level, however, the fast pace of eliminations resulted in the final table being formed three minutes into the start of Level 19.
Following the elimination of Gurjeet Singh in 10th place for ₹30,400, the nine-handed final table was formed.
Headlining the nine finalists was a familiar name at the BPT – Gangadhar Raaj. Raaj had made deep runs in several BPT events in the last BPT series and he is once again in the driver’s seat after bagging the end-of-day chip lead with 535,000 in chips.
Hot on Raaj’s coattails are J. Raju (481,000) and Deepanshi Tamar (406,000), who feature among the top three stacks of the day.
The final table will resume at 2 PM on January 10, where the action will be live-streamed (with 30-minute delay).

Gurjeet Singh jammed with pocket treys and Kshitij Kucheria called with . Singh was ahead on the flop but the turn brought a pair for Kucheria. The river was not what Singh had hoped for and he ended up hitting the rail on the final table bubble, collecting ₹30,400 for his efforts.
With Singh’s departure, the nine-handed final table has been drawn and the play halted. We will be back with the final table chip counts shortly.
Defending champion Gokul Krishna moved all-in with and next to act, Abhishek Rathod called with . The board bricked, eliminating Krishna in 11th place for ₹30,400.
In a battle of the blinds, it was Kunal Patni who moved all-in from the small blind with and big blind Deepanshi Tomar called with . The board ran and Patni hit the rail in 12th place, earning ₹30,400 for his efforts.
Gangadhar Raaj who was one of the top performers at the last BPT series in Oct is once again looking primed for a deep run after scoring the double knockout of Zook Kurup and Amarnath Reddy.
The hand saw Kurup moving all-in for 18K from middle position and Gokul Krishna called from the hijack. Reddy shoved from the cutoff for 4K and Anmol Srivats called from the button. Raaj made it 55K and both Krishna and Srivats folded.

The board ran and Raaj’s aces held on, eliminating Reddy in 14th place and Kurup in 13th place, each of them taking home a ₹24,600 payout.
J. Raju has just eliminated another player from the tournament. Raju opened to 17K with and Sanket Sanganeria made it 38K to call holding . Raju shoved and Sanganeria called. Raju’s cowboys held through the runout, eliminating Sanganeria in 15th place. He collected a ₹24,600 payout.
Atul Gangal open-shoved with and Chirag Sodha made the call with . The board ran and Sodha scooped the pot with one-pair. Gangal headed out to the payouts desk to collect ₹22,000 for his 16th place finish.
With the flop open , Vikas KN fired a bet of 25K, on which J. Raju raised for 70K. “I have a set of 10’s, call only if you have a straight,” said Raju. Vikas called anyway, putting his tournament life at risk.

One of the international players in the field, Mikael Doverklint, has been eliminated in 19th place for ₹20,200.
On another table, Abhishek Rathod limped in from the button and Anuj Yadav shoved from the small blind with . The big blind folded and Rathod made the call with . The community cards saw Rathod spiking a pair, enough to send Yadav out. Yadav collected an 18th place payout of ₹22,000.
J Raju opened UTG for 11K and Khatwani shoved for 75K. Nishant Sharma moved all-in over the top and Raju folded. Khatwani tabled versus Sharma’s . The community cards opened , eliminating Khatwani in 21st place who collected ₹20,200 for his efforts.
Meanwhile, Shardul Parthasarathi was eliminated in 20th place for ₹20,200.
Anmol Srivats opened to 11K from the cutoff with , only to see Tanmai Relwani ripping it in for 35K from the small blind with . Srivats called and his deuces held through on the rundown , busting Relwani in 22nd place. Relwani earned ₹19,500 for his finish.
Deepanshi Tomar opened from the button with and big blind Jairam Porab jammed his last nine bigs with . Tomar called and completed a straight on the turn, eliminating Porab in 23rd place for ₹19,500.
Deepanshi Tomar moved all-in from the small blind with pocket fives and Atul Gangal repopped it from the big blind with pocket rockets. The board blanked and Gangal’s aces held.
Sanket Sanganeria opened to 11K from the middle position before Chirag Sodha flatted from the button. Big blind Myron Pereira moved all-in for 37.5K. The action came back to Sanganeria, who moved all-in on top forcing Sodha to get out of the way.

Jyoti Ranjan Nayak was the first player to finish in the money and was eliminated in 24th place for ₹19,500.

On a separate table, Kshitij Kucheria moved all-in preflop from the button for 31K with and big blind Bobbe Suri came along with a call with . The board ran and Kucheria hit trips to get a double-up.
With Rony Chowdhury’s departure in 26th place, we’re officially on the money bubble and the hand-for-hand has begun.
The final 24 finishers are guaranteed at least ₹19,500 from the ₹17,56,300 prize pool.

Tomar got out of the way and Purohit moved all-in. Raj called with for a flush draw, while Purohit tabled . The turn and the river completed the board, and Raj took it down with his pair of fours.

Arsh Grover jammed with but unfortunately for him, Chirag Sodha woke up with behind him. An ace on the flop gave both players top pair, however, Sodha’s king-kicker won him Grover’s bounty!
Tanmai Relwani opened to 6,700 and Anant Purohit moved all-in for 57,000. Relwani called with as Purohit showed . The board ran and Purohit paired his king to win the pot.
An unknown player in the big blind was up against J. Raju who was in UTG+1. After the flop, Raju bet 6K and the big blind called. The turn got checked by the big blind but Raju led out for another 5K, forcing the big blind to fold.
We reached the action on the flop . Nirav Bhakta was the first to act and he jammed and got looked up by UTG PokerGuru Ambassador Rony Chowdhury who held for a flush draw. The last two streets brought the and the and with Chowdhury missing his draw, it was Bhakta who scooped the pot.
Vikram ‘Lungi’ Kumar limped from UTG. One player called before J. Raju raised to 15K from the cutoff. Kumar shoved, forcing the other player to fold. Raju called and tabled only to come up against Kumar`s . The board revealed and Raju hit QUADS to win Kumar`s bounty!

Short-stacked Jasven Saigal jammed with pocket treys and action folded to Jairam Porab who called tabling pocket sevens. The runout missed both players and Porab’s superior pair won him the pot, eliminating Saigal in the process.
Abhinav Jain opened to 3,000 and found two callers before J.Raju shoved for 21,200 on the button. Jain moved all-in over on top and the rest of the table got out of the way.

We were at the table when Atul Gangal open-shoved with for 9,400 and Phanindra Akkina moved all-in over the top with . The board did give an early lead to Akkina with a pair of eights. However, it was Gangal who ultimately took down the pot with a turned pair of aces.
Though this was an interesting pot, it was the story of an epic hand that PokerGuru Ambassador Gokul Raj shared with us that truly caught our attention. Apparently, PokerBaazi Team pro Abhishek Rathod, sitting with a 12 big blind stack, limped from UTG with pocket aces. Kunal Patni ‘min-raised’ from the cutoff with , while Anuj Yadav cold called. Rathod shipped it in, prompting Patni to call, as Yadav folded. Needless to say, Rathod won the hand!

It has been a fantastic start to the BPT Janaury 2020 edition, especially for PokerGuru Staking as Team Ambassador Ashish Ahuja trounced the 286-strong field of the series opener ₹10K Kick Off to claim his career-first BPT title. Ahuja has been on a roll for the past few days. After final tabling the BPTO Highroller ₹50 Lakhs GTD and Main Event ₹1 Crore GTD, Ahuja finally got the monkey off his back and clinched the title, along with ₹6.18 Lakhs top prize!
But that wasn’t enough for the lawyer-turned-poker pro as he jumped into the action of the Big Bounty and will be looking to make back-to-back deep runs at the BPT!
The flop was already on the table when Anant Purohit led out for 4K. Kshitij Kucheria called to see the turn . Both players checked to see the river . Purohit bet for 9K and Kucheria tank called. Purohit said he has ace-high, however, Kucheria tabled pocket tens to claim the pot.

Short-stacked Abhishek Chinya found some respite when he managed to secure a double up through Sanket Sanganeria. Chinya moved all-in from UTG for 3,500 and Sanganeria called holding . Chinya tabled . The board saw Chinya river two pairs, raking in a nice double up!
We caught up with PokerGuru Ambassador Naresh Veeravalli just as he was leaving his seat. His first elimination took place when Veeravalli’s pocket nines were cracked by his opponent’s Big Slick.
Not to be deterred, Veeravalli re-entered, but his second bullet did not yield better results. his second elimination happened at the hands of Dinesh Singh. Anuj Yadav, who finished 10th in the series opener Kick Off event, opened to 500 from UTG. Veeravalli who was to next to Yadav raised to 1,700. Action folded to Singh in the small blind to made it 5,700. Yadav folded and Veeravalli shoved for 15.5K. Singh called and showed . Veeravalli turned over . The runout blanked for the latter, signalling his exit from the competition for now.
UTG opened to 500 and Pankaj Bhardwaj made it 1600 to call. Ankit Jajodia, who was in the big bind shoved for 6300. UTG got out of the way, but Bhardwaj called.

We got to the action with already open on the flop. Jairam Porab checked from UTG, while Vineet Kumar fired a bet of 800 from the middle position. Porab called and the dealer flipped over the on the turn. Kumar led out for 1400 and Porab check-called. Both players checked to see the river. Porab showed for a two pair, prompting Kumar to muck his hand.
With the flop open , J.Raju moved all-in for 6,300 with and Ravi Priya tank-called, holding . The turn and river were no help to Raju who was forced to re-enter to get back in the game.
The field is growing fast and 110 entries have already been clocked in. The latest additions to the field are PokerGuru Ambassadors Laksh Pal Singh and Ankit Wadhawan, Dipika Agarwal, Gangadhar Raj and PokerBaazi CEO Navkiran Singh.

The river bricked for Bhardwaj, while Rai rivered a six-high straight to claim the bounty!
Its still quite early in the event and the action is heating up. In a three-way pot, Akshay Asawa limped from hijack and Anant Purohit opened to 400 from the button. Jairam Porab raised to 1K from small blind. Asawa shoved for 9,200, Purohit reshoved over the top and Porab caled for 9,350.

It’s now time for the second event of the Baazi Poker Tour January 2020 edition to begin. Sporting a ₹15,000 buy-in, the Big Bounty offers a ₹15 Lakhs guarantee. In the last edition, the event had a slightly higher buy-in of ₹20,000 and had crowned a champion in seasoned pro Gokul Krishna who had banked a cool ₹5.16 Lakhs in top prize!
