A marathon ten hour session of $200/$400 deepstacked PLO ran yesterday at PokerStars ending in the early hours (European time) with lots of big names involved in the fast and furious action. It was inevitable that sooner or later the stakes would be raised and the action would heat up – the games have certainly been heading in that direction over the past few weeks as more and more US players have flown the coop and moved into more poker friendly territories.

The games ran from midday to around 10.30pm (server time) and featured a stellar cast list with Ilari “Ilari FIN” Sahamies, Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond, Andreas “Skjervøy” Tobergsen, Rafi “refaelamit” Amit, Niki “RealAndyBeal” Jedlicka among the raft of players who took part over the course of the sessions.

Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond a big winner in the $200/$400 games

With the 250bb stacks and a host of highstakes regulars ready to gamble the action was sure to be explosive and we were not disappointed as the three biggest pots we have recorded so far on PokerStars, including the biggest ever pot seen on PokerStars occurred during the sessions.

      Torbergsen loses

Several tables ran at once as the players jostled for position and the turnover of players was surprisingly high as at least 15 different players competed at the $200/$400 tables. Interestingly, although they were both active yesterday neither Isildur1 nor Brian Hastings were involved despite both participating in the biggest PLO game ever seen in online poker back in 2009 when Hastings dismantled Blom to the tune of $4.2 million over at Full Tilts $500/$1000 tables.

Three players who were present almost throughout proceedings were Ilari Sahamies, Phil Galfond and Andreas Tobergsen – and it is these three who really had the most interesting results. When the games were over the biggest winners were Galfond and Sahamies with Sahamies taking home over 1/2 million dollars with “MrSweets28” winning just shy of $370k. On the other end of variance for once was Tobergsen who will be licking his wounds today after dropping over $650k through the course of the day. With these results in Skjervøy is just managing to stay atop of the PokerStars 2011 leaderboard with $1.49 million to PepperoniF’s $1.44 million.

As we have already published Sahamies two biggest hands, here are the three other biggest pots from yesterdays sessions.

      MrSweets28 fades Skjervøy’s wrap – $287k pot

AA vs KK – $256k pot

      Skjervøy’s Aces cracked – $239k pot
