hey guys check this out.india is on the map of apt finally.

      http://www.theasianpokertour.com/news/apt-asian-series-sails-into-india.html
The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is pleased to announce a historic move that will see the APT Asian Series tournament land on the sunny shores of IndiaÂ’s Goa. Set to take place from November 8-14, 2011 at the floating Casino Royale, it will be the first time that an APT tournament will be held in India and, as such, is poised to capitalise on the countryÂ’s burgeoning and largely untapped poker scene.

The schedule for the APT Asian Series Goa will feature seven side events with buy-ins ranging from INR 5000 to INR 20,000 that will include the INR 15,000 Head Hunter, “Greed” and Six-handed events. However, the highlight of the tournament will, of course, be the INR 50,000 buy-in Main Event, which kicks off at 4pm on Friday November 11, 2011.

Asian Poker Tour CEO, Jeff Mann, said “This is a bold and exciting move for the APT. We will be the first international poker tour to hold an event in India. As with any new and radical endeavour, we are sure there will be challenges but we have high expectations that the tournament will be well received amongst the growing Indian poker community and visiting international players.”

The venue for the event, Casino Royale, is the countryÂ’s largest off-shore casino. Anchored just off the shores of GoaÂ’s capital, Panaji, the shipÂ’s poker room is a premier destination for visiting players and has made a name for itself in hosting the regionÂ’s richest tournaments.

Casino Royale Poker Room Manager, Craig Wildman, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with the APT for this tournament. Although poker is still relatively new to India we have seen it grow enormously in popularity and I’m sure that having such a well-respected poker tour hold one of its legs here will only see it expand even further.”

The APT Asian Series Goa tournament will be the next stop on the APT Asian Series tournament calendar after the Manila stage, which is being held at Resort World Manila on August 17-23, 2011.

Event schedule and details will be posted soon on the APT website.

Well Done Amit Verma! Luckily the APT had Aces unlimited before this which attracted most of regulars to Goa but i am not sure if the APT can be called a successful event considering these numbers.
      I had a few questions-
Why such a poor turnout? and Why has CR put up wrong updates?
update from day 1-Casino Royale now formally announces the launch of Asian Poker Tour in India. The First International Poker Event…
There are more than 150 participants already (and many more registering) in the very first APT tournament… All this is happening only on your favourite Poker Destination – Casino Royale Goa!!
Can you afford to miss this extravagant show….??

Can anyone update on the number of Asian or foreign players in each event? Who were the known international pros who played the event?

@kalapoker: They could be referring to registrations for the Main Event which begins tomorrow though not sure why they would say 150 for Event 1 when 89 played it.

Well 4pm starts are not the most popular for Goa players and getting exact numbers of Asian/Foreign numbers is difficult but there are quite a few of them in attendance at the APT. Some past APT winners and celebs who have come down are 2 time WSOP bracelet winner Mel Judah,Nam Thien Le and China’s Yun Xiang Gao.
