MemberQualified via satellites £1 to a £750 buyin. 17 players and 3rd place was about – £3,500
starting stacks were 30,000 and 20 min blinds on 100/200 and approx 50 hands in … I had been small balling and folding to resistance on the flops .. won a few small pots and I had roughly my starting stack.
I get KK in the SB and several limpers before it gets to me. I raise it to 800 4x BB and the UTG calls and one other in mid position who now has position. The pot is now approx 3,200 (other limpers folded)
Flop is Kh 7c 3d ,,, I checked as I had occasionally been doing that when I completely missed (and more than 1 caller) and simply folded to any bets.
Well what happened next went as planned … UTG put in a min bet in to see where he was and to my delight player 2 sticks in an overbet of 10k … naturally I insta shoved .. and he called
He shows QJ .. I am in seventh heaven ;D ;D ;D … and dreaming of at least 3rd place … ::) ::) ::) What follows is a nightmare that I cannot forget …
Turn … 10c … river 9d … OUT 😮 😮 😮 .. stack gone 15hrs of previous tournament play … gone !!! :'( :'( :'(
I often replay that hand and even if I flatted his flop bet; the money is going in on the turn and equally the river as I am only beat by QJ and given the action , I could never assign that hand to him on the flop. AK, KQ, 77 or even K7 suited.
I’d expect play like that in a freeroll … BUT in a £750 buyin … like about 53,000 rupees ….

MemberIn my opinion … playing this big was the wrong thing u did…
No doubt shoving with QJ was very pathetic play…. and u got a very bad beat……which cannot be controled…
I dont know on which website u played this…but on FTP even if you qualify for a big tournament through satellite..u can redeem money in Tournament dollars..which can be used as buyin for other tournament…so if i was to play in ur spot.. i would have redeem 750 and divided into 20 parts and played 20 smaller tournament…
but then all websites do not allow to redeem money..So that factor is also needed to be considered..

Please note: the size of a tournament “buy-in” has no relation or bearing to the playing of any individual hand … therefore it is totally irrelevant “factor” in any analysis made. –
But to answer your irrelevant query – It was a ticket and non-redeemable on William Hill.
Though my game is good enough for that level (qualifiers are testament to that), had I the option of banking the £750 I probably would have.
I have also qualified\won land based tickets which are non-transferable and cannot be converted and been unable to play.
But in your world … if you win a WSOP Main event ticket … you would take the cash ???
Your comments offer no explanation for the hand play, which is the primary purpose of these posts. I hoped for some intelligent feedback/comments or a just nothing you can do .. bad beat.
I had already credited you as a good player and praised you in other topics for providing credible replies to others. (should I revise that opinion?)
Your post with the “quote” indicates that you deemed “I had left myself with no outs” and hence I played it wrong or badly.
If you can share and provide here the analytical, insightful and guru like knowledge you imagine you possess regarding this play, I would be grateful.
If is the same non-productive advice as before … please feel free to ignore this post … Thanks -

Hahaha! Sorry I couldn’t help myself 😉
This is the 2nd post (not sure who the other poster was) I’ve read where its a straight flush vs straight flush (or royal) in a live game.
To be honest richestuser (nice nick btw) I find that extremely hard to believe. Are you posting comments just to get more stars by your nick?
What MumbaiMagic experienced was a very tough beat and really hard to escape from. I can only offer him my sympathies and wish him luck in the future.Just for fun I would like to post a hand I played:

Babyshark: Thanks for the comment
I laughed at the quote myself as sarcasm is the lowest form of wit …. so had a good chuckle!!
As for “any x 2” it is correct .. preflop any 2 cards can win but I’d only recommend that play when you are short stacked and blinds are approaching .. saying that folded K3 o/s today and the flop was KKQ with a K on turn .. :'( :'( :'(

You’re absolutely right. I forgot to mention the short stack bit.
I was the shortest stack in that tourney so I had nothing to lose.Cheers!
