      The Poker Player Alliance (PPA) – India is non-profit group, which shares its name, and objective with the United States based Poker Player Alliance, headquartered at Washington, DC. It is currently an informal Facebook group with no association with the USA based group. PPA India is endeavored towards becoming a revolutionary support system for Poker in general.

      PPA India’s primary objective is to foster membership to the group and build a large community of poker enthusiasts who can collectively lobby for the interests of the poker community

      The group is minimally administered and moderated by a bunch of poker players (currently 10 admins) who are not affiliated to any brand. The admin team has been working towards increasing poker awareness by allowing members to share all kinds of poker related news and quote their opinions and views on the game. A few admin members commented on why PPA was articulated in the first place and the purpose that it needs to serve.

      One of the early initiator’s who founded the group; the brainchild behind PPA is Vinay Suchede who hails from Mumbai. PGT Season 2 Main Event Champion, Vinay, envisioned the role of PPA, purely as a platform to share poker related activity and address its issues. He commented, “”.

      Goa based Rakesh Sharma, who is a filmmaker by profession and a poker enthusiast with several big wins under his name, is a part of PPA admin as well. “”, said Rakesh.

      To be able to voice an individual opinion on a general poker forum, without following and branding exercise was the idea that Sumit Sapra had in mind. Sumit is an IIM, Lucknow alumni, who has done extremely well for himself with several big cashes to his credit.He adds – “.”

      Another PPA admin member, Ashutosh Naik is a Bangalore based poker player. Stressing on the importance of the number of members on PPA, Ashutosh commented “ ”

      The group has already begun to work in tandem with other poker stakeholders like tourney organizers, poker room operators and casino managements to address issues concerning poker players in India. Some of the issues discussed on the thread have led to greater clarity about rake, taxes and prize pools etc.

      Kolkata based Prabhat Mukherjea, champion of PGT Season 2 and has a remarkable poker history, is also associated with PPA as an admin member. Prabhat says, “”.

      Other notable members of the admin, forming the core group, include Young Guns of Poker Abhishek Goindi and Aditya Sushant, Jagdeep Singh, Marga and former PokerGuru pro Amit Varma.
