The U.S. Department of Justice has taken major action against PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, UB.com, and Absolute poker and issued indictments against the owners of each. PokerStars has officially left the United States market, a move that leaves the industry shaken.
Today, the industry was hit with an indictment, ‘charging eleven managers’, including the owners of the three largest online poker companies doing business in the United States – PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker – with “ fraud, money laundering, and illegal gambling offenses.”
When trying to visit websites like UB.com today, players were met with a message saying that the FBI had seized the URL, complete with an HTML title of “Warning.” The message explained in part, “Conducting, financing, managing, supervising, directing, or owning all or part of an illegal gambling business is a Federal crime.”
The same message added, “For persons engaged in the business of betting or wagering, it is also a Federal crime to knowingly accept, in connection with the participation of another person in unlawful internet gambling, credit, electronic fund transfers, or checks.” Each charge carries a maximum sentence of up five years in jail and a fine up to $250,000.
Players on PokerStars were met with the message, “We are sorry, but due to government regulations, playing real money ring games is not allowed in your area.” Tournaments were affected as well as PokerStars barred U.S. players.
Full Tilt Poker has not released any details on its future and sources reveal that UB.com and Absolute Poker plan to remain in the U.S. market. What actions the sites that choose to stay will take given that their domain names are inaccessible remains to be seen.
Poker players from india need not to worry since there is no such restriction embeded, Feel free to play on poker stars , Full tilt poker, Absoulte poker and UB.com. The games will now be better and softer since there would be a huge overlay on guaranteed tournaments. Thank god i’m not an american. -

Read your last para with interest. Tell me how we Indians can log on to say Full Tilt to play poker in the scene that the US has barred US players from it. I am told that the sites have stopped functioning and the software also does not run. No new deposits are being taken and not withdrawals are being permitted.
Danish, also let us know which country you come from as you made a happy statement that you are not an American. -

Bharat its basically a software update which is the issue in full tilt but few people are able to log-in, Pokerstars is working well since i played on it yesterday, only thing you get pop-up messages saying “Due to developments beyond our control, we have had to suspend real money poker for players in the united states. Please be assured player balance are safe. There is no cause for concern”
