nt folding 2p esp after that 1/3 turn bet, if u were inducing then u gt it, snap

    • #34565

he prolly has KX and hit his top pair…so i would call here..but since u said that he is a hyper lag so its vary hard to identify his range…even if you lose thats bad luck…cant do too much about it….

      1. Pre flop – 4 bet/fold KTo is not a great hand to play vs a Lag with abt 40 BB. abt 33% vs a 10% 3 bet range unless he is 3 betting wider. But i think a great spot to 4 bet here.
      2. On flop check back or if u have bet flop check turn/call river.
      3. As played its really tough now…he can have anything from a straight with QJ( a lag will 3 bet that) to air..as a K is a great spot to bluff shove. Dont think this call will be profitable on the long run

the line looks extremely strong.. but tough to fold now I guess … thoughts on 4b (8500)/f pre ..

Well i think 4 bet is the best play vs a Lag…if he was a fish then flatting can be an option cos he will fold to C/R flop often…Vs a Lag its difficult… 4 bet to 8700 or 9000 fold to shove…. hero might come back and say weeee he has a 77 and i owned him or A9 or had a flush draw and he missed.. and i owned him…but i think this had was incorrectly played both pre flop and on turn

Well Sorry Prabhat….my entire reasoning above is incorrect didnt see that he 2x ed his 3 bet…deff a good call and why let him off the hook for his stupid 2x 3 bet…and bet bet bet get it in is the rite play cos he is 3xing wide….not removing my comments above cos its worth a read but WP

Saby, not really responding much to this- a hyper-lag three bets a lot more than 10% (and its elementary that he won’t 3-bet QJ), he’d not 3-bet top x% of his range, its fundamental to 3-bet either very strong hands or weak ones which you don’t mind folding to the raise.

Vinay, I didn’t feel 4-bet would accomplish too much as I felt perfectly sure he was at the least, capable of 5-betting me light. I wasn’t very clear at all whether this sizing was either monster hands like AA, or very weak hands trying to rep that, or 77/88/99 type hands that wanted to induce a 4-bet so they can shove, or given how quick he did this, maybe even a misclick, given this read as well as a lack of any idea of how often and with what hands he would 5-bet, I elected to flat since I had position, calling was extremely cheap, and I didn’t feel so far behind his range as to be overpowered/feel there would be huge reverse implied odds.

As i said my reasoning was incorrect :P…duno what i was thinking….he certainly does not 3 bet QJ… curious though what did he have…and btw whats ur reasoning for flatting flop…if u ahead dont u want to raise flop wth top pair

Well my 4bet % is very low and I am always surprised when ppl start talking bout 4-betting in many spots on the forums. First if he is hyperLAG as spree has mentioned, you rarely get away with it. Second you are holding the button which is the best part, with the stacks players had, resteal is not the best thing to do, you are fighting for chips not egos. Flatting pf makes a lot more sense to me, u hit the flop against lag which is still a good thing and if you improve on turn, throw the kitchen sink at it or if you want to be wise for a better spot and go deep you will fold. As for me, I am snap calling turn.

Correction: I didnt mention how I would have played it post-flop. Given the spot I said I would snap it. 🙂

Wow i think that is very well played. I think it is your turn bet of 1/3 pot that induces that action. I think the hands he beats us a ‘Set’ or a straight would not play that way knowing you are weak. But even if that is the case I still believe it is the right play. More often than not that will work in your favor. Though curious to know why you thought its a tough situation. I would like to hear the other side of the story.

      call

    • #34678

      what did he have?

    • #34687

AA….quite ironic that the most unscientific comment in this thread was actually correct. He did in fact have “AA” though “putting him on Aces” is obviously pretty silly.

    • #34750

Pretty silly? Well his check on the turn and shoving after your bet does give us an idea hes holding a monster hand. And secondly I see no reason for this thread to exist, I dont really see the “tough spot” , its a very very easy call against a lag.

    • #26137

If you don’t see that the hand over-all is non-trivial it says more about you than it does about me.

A “monster hand” does not necessarily mean AA only. “Putting people on a hand” is a silly practice. Apart from which this isn’t a Goa live game or a $2 Stars donkament, and hyper-lag online players in HS tourneys definitely have more than just monsters in their c/raising range.
