KeymasterThe World`s biggest Poker Tournament – The World Series of Poker has announced the 2012 WSOP schedule, along with numerous changes and additions. With millions of dollars in prize-money, the WSOP will once again be hosted at the Rio All-Suite Hotel in Las Vegas with 61 featured events along with some interesting new formats including a Million Dollar Buy-in One Drop Event tournament!
“This year’s WSOP schedule is very exciting!” remarked WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel, who will oversee the event for the seventh consecutive year.
The WSOP Main Event which is the highest paying Sporting event in the World will see a few notable changes this year. Firstly, instead of the usual four starting days, there will be only three (Saturday, July 7th, Sunday, July 8th, and Monday, July 9th) and the day off has also been removed. Finally, there will be no November Nine this year because the final table has been moved up a week in view of the U.S. presidential elections and instead the final table now will take place in 2 stages. In the 1st stage, nine players will play down to the final two on Sunday, Oct. 28th, and the heads-up battle will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 30th for the crowning of the WSOP 2012 Champion.
An interesting addition to the schedule is Event 49: $1,500 Ante Only No-Limit Hold’em Tournament. According to the WSOP: “In a twist on traditional no-limit hold’em poker, this event will be played without the small and big blind bets. All players at the table will ante to begin every hand, with the person to the left of the button starting the action with a choice of folding or bringing in the minimum chip amount in play. The event will create a lot of action and multi-player pots.”
The Super High Roller Million Dollar Buy-in One Drop Tournament will take place on July 1st and will benefit the ONE DROP charity with 11.1% of the buy-in going to the charity. So far, 15 players have committed for this event, including notables like: Guy Laliberté, Bobby Baldwin, Treasure Island owner Phil Ruffin, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu, Johnny Chan, Tom Dwan and Tony Guoga, and Andy Beal.2012 WSOP Schedule:
