World Poker Tour (WPT) India

International tournament brand, World Poker Tour (WPT), first came visiting India in 2017, in collaboration with the online poker site, Adda52. The 2017 WPT India was hosted at Deltin Royale Casino in Goa from November 7-13, 2017, and the WPT subsequently added to the hype by announcing the first-ever WPT India Player of the Year (POY) award.

WPT has been coming back every year since and has even integrated the India stop with its Asia Swing schedule of events taking place at various poker venues in and around Asia. The third and latest stop played out between October 15-21, 2019 – once again onboard Casino Deltin Royale in Goa. Retaining most of the elements from last year, the ₹55,000 Main Event was the star attraction at the stop. In the end, PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Munot came out on top of a 630-entry field to win a career-best ₹63.48* Lakhs in prize money and his second live title! The richest tournament of the series, the ₹1 Lakh WPT India High Roller that was taken down by UK-based Yasheel Doddanavar.

The details of the next WPT India series are still awaited.
