WPT to Break New Ground With Landmark WPT Macau Series From June 18-24

After 22 seasons of global expansion, the World Poker Tour is finally planting its flag in China! This June, the legendary WPT Main Tour makes its historic debut at the opulent Wynn Macau, promising high-stakes thrills from June 18 to 24. This landmark series will feature several prestigious tournaments, setting the stage for potential history-making moments.

The WPT Macau festival (June 18 to 24) promises thrilling action all week long. The HK$40,000 buy-in Championship event (June 20 to 24) is the crown jewel, while the ultra-high-stakes HK$200,000 buy-in WPT High Roller (June 19 to 20th) adds another layer of adrenaline to the mix.

WPT’s groundbreaking China series is a collaborative effort with Allied Gaming & Entertainment (AGAE) and Wynn Macau. AGAE, a driving force in experiential gaming, is familiar to poker fans through their HyperX Arena at the Luxor – a venue synonymous with exhilarating WPT final tables. Here, Bin Weng‘s electrifying rise to the 2024 Global Poker Index Player of the Year title unfolded.

“Macau has long been a coveted destination for us. We’re eager to deliver the iconic WPT experience to this dynamic region,” said Adam Pliska, WPT CEO, in a press release. “Our sincere thanks to AGAE and Wynn Macau for making this exciting expansion possible. This is a series you won’t want to miss!”

Adam Pliska

“We’re excited to partner with these esteemed global brands to bring the World Poker Tour to Macau, SAR, P.R. China,” said Yinghua Chen, Chief Executive Officer of AGAE, echoing Pliska`s enthusiasm. “Our shared commitment to this growing entertainment market positions us for major success. This marks the WPT’s first physical presence in Macau after two decades of operations. We’re leveraging our resources and expertise to create a truly memorable experience in this thrilling market.”

Linda Chen, President, Vice Chairman of the Board, and Executive Director of Wynn Macau Limited, emphasized Macau’s global appeal: “This partnership marks a significant milestone as we introduce one of the world’s most esteemed poker events to Macau. Bringing legendary poker figures to our city reinforces Macau’s status as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. This captivating event will attract global visitors eager to experience Macau’s unique energy.”

WPT’s Asia Legacy and Indian Connection

While the Macau debut is monumental, it’s important to remember the WPT’s deep roots in Asia. In 2018, fueled by the explosion of poker’s popularity in the Asia Pacific, the WPT launched its inaugural ‘Asia Swing’ tour. Stops in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and India solidified the WPT’s commitment to the region. The ‘Asia Swing’ continued in 2019, with WPT Cambodia being added to the list of stops.

In subsequent years, WPT’s Prime Tour gained a strong foothold in Asia, especially in Vietnam and Cambodia. Following the new GST regulations implemented in October 2023, WPT cancelled its India-facing tour for 2024. However, before that, WPT held four thriving festivals at Casino Deltin Royale in Goa from 2017 to 2019 and 2023.

Macau has a special significance for veteran Indian players. Aditya Agarwal‘s runner-up finish in the 2018 APPT Macau Main Event, Abhishek Goindi‘s second-place finish in the 2012 Macau Poker Cup – Red Dragon Event, and Sangeeth Mohan‘s 10th-place finish in the 2011 APPT Macau Main Event are just a few examples of India’s poker prowess in the region.

Macau’s easy visa options for Indians (visa-free under 30 days) could attract a strong contingent eager to write the next chapter in India’s poker legacy. With Indian talent on the rise, don’t be surprised to see them make waves at WPT Macau!

NPS India 2024 Series Leaderboard Standings After Day 11

The race for the NPS India 2024 Series Leaderboard crown is a nail-biter! As Day 11 concludes, clear frontrunners have started to emerge.

Rising Star Aman ‘KarmaPoker’ Parakh continues his phenomenal run! His back-to-back Gold Medal wins last week ignited his rise, and he hasn’t looked back. Eight consecutive days at the #1 spot, a thrilling NPS#31 (PLO-5) final table finish, and an astonishing 61 cashes (out of 78 tournaments!) clearly show Parakh’s in the zone. With 17,685 points, he maintains a healthy lead. However, his recent slip to #3 on the Podium Leaderboard (behind Deepak Singh and Young Gun Abhishek Sonu) reminds us that in the NPS, fortunes can change quickly!

Avneesh ‘iamam’ Munjal remains a formidable force! He’s a model of consistency, holding onto the #2 spot for three days straight. His relentless presence in every NPS event is paying off – a staggering 74 cashes in 78 tournaments keeps him close on Parakh’s heels with 15,726 points.

Deepak ‘3streakbluff’ Singh has exploded onto the scene! After becoming the second player to snatch two NPS Gold Medals in a single day, he’s rocketed to #3 on the Series Leaderboard, collecting 15,135 points and the coveted #1 spot on the Podium Leaderboard. This hunger for victory shows in his medal haul (Gold in NPS#76 Big Knockout (PKO), NPS#73 (PLO-6) Deepdive, NPS#61 Marathon, and a Bronze in NPS#50 Marathon) and his impressive 54 cashes. It’s clear Singh is here to make history.

NPS India 2024 Podium Leaderboard Standings After Day 11

The NPS India 2024 Podium Leaderboard is a battlefield! Deepak ‘3streakbluff’ Singh just made history, becoming the second player to snatch two NPS Gold Medals in a single day. His victories in NPS#76 Big Knockout (PKO) and NPS#73 (PLO-6) Deepdive not only propelled him to the top but also added to his impressive NPS trophy haul. With another Gold in NPS#61 Marathon and a Bronze in NPS#50 Marathon, he now shares the lead with Young Gun Abhishek ‘addysonu’ Sonu – both tied with 32 points.

Young Gun Abhishek Sonu is no stranger to the top spot. This formidable player has already clinched three Gold Medals, dominating NPS#32 #Slamdunk, NPS#44 #Slamdunk, and NPS#71 Relay. His consistency and drive make him a constant threat to anyone vying for the podium’s top step.

Former #1 Samay ‘SamaySinghModi’ Singh Modi refuses to fade away. His legendary three-day reign at the top, fueled by a dazzling three-Gold Medal streak, might have ended, but he remains a force at #3. Samay’s undeniable talent and relentless spirit keep him in the podium hunt.

Adding to the suspense, NPS Series Leaderboard leader Aman ‘KarmaPoker’ Parakh is back! After a well-deserved birthday break, he’s returned to the fray, although now ranking #4. His two Golds, one Silver, and a staggering eight total NPS medals mark him as a formidable contender ready to reclaim his dominance.
