Yadav, Bothra, Mudgal & Parwal Bank Seven-Figure Scores in the Sunday Marquees
Another nail-biting slew of Sunday flagships came to an end in the wee hours of Monday morning, and with it emerged the latest Millionaire Legends champion in the talented Young Gun Devang ‘equity_hunter’ Yadav! The Millionaire Legends ₹1.5 Crores GTD drew 568 entries (Day 1A – 232 and Day 1B – 336) across two starting flights, falling ₹8 Lakhs short of its advertised guarantee. Only 106 runners (Day 1A – 44 and Day 1B – 62) advanced to Day 2, with the top 100 slated to finish ITM.
It was a hard-fought battle on the FT as Yadav had to contend against more experienced players like Dhaval ‘MandirYahinBanayenge’ Mudgal
Joining Yadav and Mudgal in the Millionaire’s circle was yet another seasoned pro, Deepak ‘bothras’ Bothra after he shipped Adda52’s Full House ₹1 Crore GTD for a jaw-dropping ₹20 Lakhs. The tourney posted a massive ₹1.04 Crores prize pool on the back of 2,082 entries (Day 1A – 415, Day 1B – 276, Day 1C – 335, Day 1D – 386, and Day 1E – 670) through five starting flights spread out over the past week. Among the 258 contenders (Day 1A – 51, Day 1B – 36, Day 1C – 46, Day 1D – 48, and Day 1E – 77) who made the cut for Day 2, only 254 finished in-the-money.
The 35-year-old Bothra, who worked in the finance sector for eight years before becoming a poker pro, had to get past Arunkumar ‘arunk8186’ Anandan (3rd for ₹8 Lakhs) and Harshit ‘hashstack’ Chopra (6th for ₹3 Lakhs) on the final table before squaring off against Kanav ‘alibaba_kings’ Parwal for the title. Once all was done and dusted, Bothra held all the chips in play, not to forget his career-best score to date. Parwal took home an equally commendable ₹12.90 Lakhs in second-place prize money.
PokerGuru caught up with Bothra and talking about his victory, Bothra revealed that he had been on a two-month-long downswing before this career-best score. “I was on a downswing from the last two months. Ending it with the biggest score of my career feels good. I made Day 2 in the last flight with a big stack and was never short throughout the tournament after that. The final 2 tables were pretty soft. I got chips at the right time on the FT and applied ICM pressure afterward. I was dominating the final table but one mistake and the stakes were even and had to grind. Ran pure heads up.”
Besides the Millionaire Legends, the other flagship on Spartan Poker was the popular weekly tournament, Sunday SuperStack that ran as part of the Spartan Super Series with a ₹50 Lakhs GTD. Garnering 1,005 entrants (468 unique, 205 re-entries and 332 re-buys), the Sunday SuperStack collected ₹50.25 Lakhs in prize money. Outlasting the competition was a user playing under the moniker ‘mickyn34’, who defeated Ayan ‘interlalia_1’ Ray (runner-up for ₹6.57 Lakhs) heads-up to walk away with a winner’s paycheque worth ₹8.92 Lakhs. Mudgal picked up yet another final table score in this event as he finished fourth for ₹3.24 Lakhs.
Adding his name to the list of Spartan Poker winner’s from Sunday was Rohit ‘kudos0505’ Behal. He championed over a field of 524 entries (273 unique, 67 re-entries, and 184 re-buys) in the SSS#21 Big Daddy ₹10 Lakhs GTD and grabbed the lion’s share of the ₹10.48 Lakhs prize pool worth ₹2.04 Lakhs. Amit ‘guru’ J came in second for ₹1.29 Lakhs.
PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit ‘d00mtr00p3r’ Wadhawan also had a good time on the virtual felts last night as he raced past a player pool of 229 entries (147 unique and 82 re-entries) in Adda52’s Millions ₹20 Lakhs GTD. Wadhawan locked horns with Rajat ‘oshoswami’ Sharma (runner-up for ₹3.66 Lakhs) heads-up and defeated the latter to pocket the ₹6.28 Lakhs top prize.
Despite losing out on the title in the Millions event, Sharma playing under the moniker ‘LungFakeer,’ took down PokerBaazi’s BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD. This time, he did not let a PokerGuru Ambassador keep him from the glory as he bested his heads-up rival Devvrat ‘flopCheck’ Arya (runner-up for ₹4.08 Lakhs) in the final showdown to win ₹5.82 Lakhs. The tourney clocked in 616 entries (306 unique and 310 re-entries) that helped generate ₹30.80 Lakhs in prize money.
Another big-ticket event that played out on Adda was the Big Slick ₹15 Lakhs GTD The 720 participants (442 unique and 278 re-entries) helped create a ₹16.19 Lakhs prize pool. In the end, Rishi ‘ronaldo94’ Mundhra came out on top to win ₹2.88 Lakhs following a heads-up deal with Rajat ‘happyfish’ Mahajan (runner-up for ₹2.11 Lakhs.
As for PokerBaazi’s BSS MegaStack ₹10 Lakhs GTD, the event raked in a prize pool of ₹11.60 Lakhs on the back of 464 entries (263 unique and 201 re-entries). Well-known online reg Anirban D ‘pottysingh’ Das came out on top and collected ₹2.33 Lakhs, while Ankit ‘akj290’ Jajodia finished runner-up for ₹1.63 Lakhs.
Over at PokerStars India, the Sunday Highroller ₹20 Lakhs GTD suffered an overlay of ₹3 Lakhs after managing to bring in only 170 hopefuls (96 unique and 74 re-entries). Anonymous user ‘mujipro’ shipped the event for ₹3.40 Lakhs, following a heads-up chop with the Kolkata resident Annkur ‘Flopzila’ Agarwal (runner-up for ₹3.63 Lakhs).
The Sunday Special INSCOOP Edition ₹20 Lakhs GTD fared slightly better as the flagships managed to surpass its listed guarantee and collected a prize pool of ₹21.10 Lakhs through 389 entries (234 unique and 155 re-entries). Unknown player ‘durrsanta’ outmaneuvered Bengaluru-based veteran pro Vidwath ‘RoronoA_1111’ Shetty (runner-up for ₹1.99 Lakhs) heads-up and captured the title and top prize of ₹3.71 Lakhs.

Abhishek Maheshwari Pulls a Moneymaker; Takes Down PokerBaazi’s EndBoss to Win ₹1 Crore!
India’s biggest online tournament to-date, PokerBaazi’s End Boss ₹5 Crores GTD, finally concluded in the wee hours of Monday morning, and for a second, we were pulled back in time to 2003. Just as Abhishek ‘Human_AI’ Maheshwari beat Neel ‘Worm33’ Joshi (runner-up for ₹65.01 Lakhs) to become the first-ever EndBoss champion, we were reminded of Chris Moneymaker‘s phenomenal run in the 2003 WSOP Main Event. It was a classic ‘amateur beats pros’ story. Moneymaker had won his seat to the WSOP Main Event in a $86 satellite tournament on PokerStars and went on to ship the mega event for $2.5 Million. Similarly, Maheshwari, who is a recreational player, had won his seat in the EndBoss through a ₹1K (10 seats GTD) satellite to Day 1D of the EndBoss. Incredibly, Maheshwari had got the satellite ticket as a bonus for making a deposit of ₹5K on the site. The rest, as we now know, is history as this Pune resident went on to ship this record-smashing tourney for a life-altering ₹1 Crore payday!
On a final table comprising of seasoned professionals like Romit ’tilt83′ Advani (3rd for ₹40.05 Lakhs), Aditya ‘KesarDa’ Kesharwani (4th for ₹26.54 Lakhs), Rishab ‘ryuk’ Malik (5th for ₹19.35 Lakhs), Shubham ‘Aurangzeb_9’ Mahapatra (6th for ₹15.49 Lakhs), Priyank ‘Piko1432’ Kothari (7th for ₹12.62 Lakhs), Sankalp ‘Wobbegong’ Marwah (8th for ₹10.11 Lakhs) and Anirban ‘pottysingh’ D Das (9th for ₹8.06 Lakhs), Maheshwari who had entered with one of the shorter stacks was clearly the ‘dark horse.’ With the help of some well-timed aggression and good luck at a few crucial spots, Maheshwari was able to outmaneuver the competition and enter the annals of Indian poker history as the first player to win an eight-figure score on a domestic platform!
As for the tournament, EndBoss was announced during the 2020 Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) January edition. At that time, it had seemed like a daunting task for any site to gather approximately 5,000 entries to meet such a humongous guarantee. However, with the nationwide lockdown in place till May 3, the majority of the poker playing traffic has shifted online, and this definitely helped the tourney register a never-before-seen 5,847 entries (Day 1A – 1,205, Day 1B – 1,376, Day 1C – 1,374 and Day 1D – 1,892) – posting a ₹5.85 Crores prize pool. A total of 645 runners advanced to Day 2, and 585 of them finished ITM.
PokerBaazi very generously awarded BSS SuperStack tickets worth ₹5,500 each to places 586-645 on Day 2 of the EndBoss. The gesture worked as the BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD logged in an overwhelming number of 862 entries, leading to a prize pool collection of ₹43.01 Lakhs. It was yet another fantastic day for Team PokerGuru yesterday, and starting things off in style was PokerGuru Ambassador Madhav ‘goacartel’ Gupta, who championed the BSS SuperStack to win ₹7.65 Lakhs. Young Gun Ujjwal ‘Mr_Robot’ Narwal finished in second-place for ₹5.37 Lakhs.
While PokerBaazi’s EndBoss clearly stole the show, Spartan Poker’s SSS Series, too, ended on a high note with the SSS Millionaire ₹1.5 Crores GTD. The marquee tournament drew in a 1,497-strong player field (Day 1A – 825 and Day 1B – 890) through its two starting flights. Only 201 survivors (Day 1A – 80 and Day 1B – 121) qualified for Day 2, out of which 185 were unique entries. PokerGuru Ambassador Parikshit ‘Zapdos1311’ Dhall juggernaut his way to the top of the field and defeated Sagar ‘$tuTheKidUngar’ Patnaik heads-up to claim a personal-best online score of ₹26.56 Lakhs. Patnaik bagged ₹15.30 Lakhs for his runner-up finish. With this win, Dhall’s recorded online winnings have surpassed the ₹1.5 Crore-mark.
The SSS#75 Sunday SuperStack ₹50 Lakhs GTD also had an eventful run yesterday as it pulled in 1,147 entries (514 unique, 227 re-entries, and 406 re-buys), collecting ₹57.35 Lakhs in prize money. Young Gun Gaurav ‘mozzie17’ Sood traversed across the large playing field and captured the top honors, including a ₹10.83 Lakhs payday, after outlasting Rohit ‘sttoned’ Kumar (runner-up for ₹6.55 Lakhs) heads-up. Not done yet, Sood added another ₹6.08 Lakhs to his bankroll by placing 11th in PokerBaazi’s EndBoss!
Shashank Jain was another reg in sublime form last night as he took down not one but two flagship tourneys. Playing under the moniker ‘felter,’ Jain decimated the 814-entry field (435 unique and 379 re-entries) that had gathered in Adda52’s Mega Suits ₹30 Lakhs GTD. Jain locked horns with PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit ‘d00mtr00p3r’ Wadhawan in the finale and ultimately walked away with a winner’s paycheque of ₹7.89 Lakhs after locking in a heads-up deal. Wadhawan received ₹6.83 Lakhs for his runner-up finish. The tourney generated a massive prize pool of ₹40.70 Lakhs.
Adda52’s Millions AF ₹20 Lakhs GTD registered ₹32.20 Lakhs prize pool through 322 entries (189 unique and 133 re-entries). Topping the field was the anonymous user ‘jimmyadams’ who pocketed ₹8.05 Lakhs up top.
The other big guarantee tourney on Adda52, the Big Slick ₹15 Lakhs GTD, attracted 792 entries (449 unique and 343 re-entries) to generate a prize pool of ₹17.82 Lakhs. Honey ‘ho9ey’ Bijlani came out as the winner and collected ₹3.17 Lakhs.
While PokerStars India also hosted big guarantee tourneys last night, these were overshadowed by the likes of the EndBoss and Millionaire. The site’s Sunday Highroller ₹20 Lakhs GTD was hit with a ₹70,000 overlay on the back of a field of 193 entries (120 unique and 73 re-entries). Shashank ‘felterr’ Jain came out on top yet again beating out another PokerGuru Ambassador Rohit ‘PillowFight22’ Mishra (runner-up for ₹2.94 Lakhs) heads-up and banked ₹3.97 Lakhs in first-place prize money.
Dhinesh ‘you3betl4bet’ Kumar ran past a field of 406 entries (249 unique and 157 re-entries) in PokerStars India’s Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹20 Lakhs GTD and grabbed the most significant portion of the ₹20.30 Lakhs prize pool worth ₹3.58 Lakhs. Shagun ‘Sogani22’ Jain came in second for ₹2.21 Lakhs.

EndBoss ₹5 Crores GTD – PokerBaazi
Entries – 3,665
Re-entries – 2,182
Prize Pool – ₹5.85 Crores

It was in the early hours of Monday morning that PokerBaazi crowned its first-ever EndBoss champion in 27-year-old Abhishek ‘Human_AI’ Maheshwari, who won a monstrous ₹1 Crore payday!
A Pune-based recreational player, Maheshwari, in true ‘Chris Moneymaker’ fashion, won his seat for Day 1D of the tournament through a ₹1K (10 seats GTD) satellite. Incredibly, he didn`t have to buy the satellite seat either as it was credited to him as a bonus offer for depositing ₹5K on the site.
Maheshwari didn`t let his lack of experience get in the way as he ran his short stack through the reg-infested final table that included the likes of Romit ’tilt83′ Advani (3rd for ₹40,05 Lakhs), Aditya ‘KesarDa’ Kesharwani (4th for ₹26.54 Lakhs), Rishab ‘ryuk’ Malik (5th for ₹19.35 Lakhs), Shubham ‘Aurangzeb_9’ Mahapatra (6th for ₹15.49 Lakhs), Priyank ‘Piko1432’ Kothari (7th for ₹12.62 Lakhs), Sankalp ‘Wobbegong’ Marwah (8th for ₹10.11 Lakhs), and Anirban ‘pottysingh’ D Das (9th for ₹8,06,886).

Playing under the moniker ‘Fish2050,’ Doddapaneni championed two of the biggest guaranteed events on offer at the tournament-centric site, both of which were part of the ongoing mega-series – the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC). His biggest win came in the signature Wednesday event, IOPC #34 Destiny ₹30 Lakhs GTD, wherein he triumphed over a field of 896 entries (363 unique, 194 re-entries and 339 re-buys), grabbing the largest share of the ₹44.80 Lakhs prize pool kitty worth ₹9 Lakhs.
Showing off his multi-tabling skills, Doddapaneni then went on to take down the IOPC #35 Daily Hi-Fi ₹15 Lakhs GTD for a cool ₹3.31 Lakhs, after besting anonymous user ‘tullupump’ (runner-up for ₹2.76 Lakhs) heads-up.
PokerBaazi’s Wednesday extravaganza, G.O.A ₹20 Lakhs GTD, also managed to pull in the crowds.
