2024 PokerStars EPT Paris: Australia’s Ram Faravash Goes on an Elimination Spree to Win €3,000 Mystery Bounty (€405,296)

The 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Paris is nearing its spectacular conclusion at the prestigious Le Palais des Congrès. While many eyes followed the Main Event, a fierce battle unfolded with Australia’s Ram Faravash emerging as a dominant force in the €3,000 Mystery Bounty.

Faravash’s remarkable run wasn’t just about the first-place prize. He showcased exceptional skill and aggression, eliminating 20 players throughout the tournament and securing a total of 21 bounties, his own included, for being the last player standing. This spectacular elimination spree added significantly to his winnings. His bounty haul reached a massive €106,500, largely thanks to securing one of the four €50,000 top bounties and one of the six €25,000 prizes. Combined with the €298,796 first-place money, his total winnings soared to €405,296.

Faravash started the third and final day of the event slightly behind Belgium’s Mustafa Al-Sayegh but eventually pulled into the lead. The climax was a face-off between the duo, where Faravash secured his victory with a set of treys. Al-Sayegh was awarded €194,720 for second place, which included €8,000 in bounties.

This event drew 997 entries from 708 unique players, generating a prize pool of €1,682,936, with an additional €977,000 dedicated to bounty prizes.

The tournament also saw notable performances from three Indian players. Ankit Ahuja, the two-time GPI POY (India), demonstrated remarkable prowess until his 17th place elimination on Day 3 for €12,300 (~₹11.04 Lakhs), adding to his impressive series winnings totalling €38,450 (~₹34.51 Lakhs).

Kartik Ved, a WSOP bracelet winner, displayed commendable effort but concluded his run in 58th place, earning €4,610 (~₹4.14 Lakhs). Jeevan Lobo, alongside his compatriots, made a significant mark by finishing in 113th place, taking home €3,480 (~₹3.12 Lakhs).

The Mystery Bounty format injected a unique element of excitement and unpredictability into the event. After players reached the money stage, every elimination triggered a thrilling bounty draw with the potential for massive cash prizes. This added incentive fueled aggressive play and created an atmosphere where fortunes could change in an instant.

Among the notable achievements in this event were the players who managed to claim the top bounty prizes, demonstrating exceptional performance and a bit of luck in drawing these high-value targets. Seonguk Huh and Henok Tekle Mariam each secured a €50,000 bounty, marking them as some of the most successful bounty hunters of the tournament.

Furthermore, Klemens Roiter, Michel Dattani, Tiago Aguiar Ramos, and Luis Dono each claimed a €25,000 bounty prize, further emphasizing the richness of the bounty pool and the diversity of players who could claim these high rewards.

Alongside the Mystery Bounty, EPT Paris saw seven other champions crowned, showcasing the festival’s diverse offerings:

Event #18: €5,200 PLO – Bogdan Capitan (Romania) – €122,900

Event #22: €25,000 NLH – Teun Mulder (Netherlands) – €389,870

Event #23: €2,100 NLH – Enzo Enzo (England) – €102,170

Event #25: €25,000 NLH – Daniel Dvoress (Canada) – €275,780

Event #32: €1,050 NLH Hyper Turbo – Endrit Geci (England) – €40,960. Sahil Chutani finished 25th, accumulating €1,920 towards his series total of €19,170 from two cash finishes.

Mystery Bounty – Final Day Recap

The final day began with a cautious atmosphere as the final 14 players were hesitant to take risks. This standoff continued until Stephane Gabarre became the first to exit in 14th place, eliminated by Al-Sayegh. The eliminations of Birger Larsen (13th), Louis Linard (12th), and then Seonguk Huh (11th) followed in quick succession.

Notably, Hossein Ensan, a celebrated figure in poker with a 2015 EPT Prague Main Event win and a 2019 WSOP Main Event victory under his belt, was eliminated just shy of the final table in tenth place. Despite his experience and previous successes, Ensan’s run ended when he was caught short-stacked and forced all-in.

Arvin Vahdat was quickly dispatched in ninth place as the final table was established. It wasn’t long before Gediminas Uselis clashed with Faravash in a pivotal hand, ultimately losing and finishing in eighth place.

Faravash’s momentum continued as he skillfully eliminated Fehim Hajdari (7th) and then Fabrice Bigot (6th), securing his position as the dominant force on the table.

Tsugunari Toma, who started the day in a strong position, struggled against aggressive plays from his opponents and was eventually eliminated in fifth place, pocketing €78,910.

Pierre May was next to fall to Faravash; his attempt to triple up was thwarted when Faravash matched his hand, sending May out in fourth place with €102,590.

Having climbed the ranks, Salomon Azria found his tournament run ended by Faravash in third place in €133,370, who continued his impressive streak of eliminations.

The tournament culminated in a head-to-head clash between Faravash and Al-Sayegh, starting with nearly even stacks. Faravash quickly turned the tables with a critical hand that doubled his stack. Maintaining pressure and winning several smaller pots, Faravash secured his lead. The decisive moment came when Al-Sayegh’s king-nine clashed with Faravash’s pocket threes. Faravash not only flopped a set but also held off Al-Sayegh’s flush draw, clinching his maiden EPT title.

Final table Results (EURO) (Including Bounties)

  1. Ram Faravash – €405,296
  2. Mustafa Al-Sayegh – €194,720
  3. Salomon Azria – €141,370

2024 PokerStars EPT Paris: Team India’s Challenge Ends in EPT Main Event & Mystery Bounty With Notable Finishes by Sahil Chuttani, Santhosh Suvarna & Ankit Ahuja

The 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Paris is nearing its exciting conclusion at the Le Palais des Congrès. While the Indian contingent gave a spirited fight, their challenges in the €5,300 EPT Main Event and €3,000 Mystery Bounty concluded on Thursday night.

India’s hopes in the record-breaking €5,300 EPT Main Event rested on Sahil Chuttani and Santhosh Suvarna, who battled their way into Day 3 among 222 players. Unfortunately, their bids for the title ended with commendable finishes – Chuttani in 78th place for €17,250 (~₹15.48 Lakhs) and Suvarna in 139th for €13,100 (~₹11.76 Lakhs).

Two-time GPI Player of the Year (India) Ankit Ahuja delivered an impressive performance in the €3,000 Mystery Bounty. His deep run ultimately landed him in 17th place, earning him €12,300 (~₹11.04 Lakhs). This win adds to his already successful series with total winnings of €38,450 (~₹34.51 Lakhs) across five events. WSOP bracelet winner Kartik Ved finished in 58th place, securing €4,610 (~₹4.14 Lakhs). Jeevan Lobo also made the money, finishing in 113th place and earning €3,480 (~₹3.12 Lakhs).

€5,300 EPT Main Event: Greece’s Mavritsakis Dominates, India’s Hopes Fade

The 2024 PokerStars EPT Paris Main Event saw a dramatic reduction in the field on Day 3, as only 57 players remain from the initial 222. Panagiotis Mavritsakis of Greece stormed into the chip lead with an impressive 2.93 million stack, closely followed by Canadian pro Eric Afrait (2.30 million) and the UK’s Tom Middleton (2.19 million).

Sadly, India’s hopes for a champion dwindled on Day 3 with the elimination of the remaining contenders, Sahil Chuttani and Santhosh Suvarna. While both players put up a strong fight, they fell short of the final stages.

Sahil Chuttani
Sahil Chuttani

Sahil Chuttani began Day 3 with a promising 359,000 chips but suffered an early setback against Pierre Calamusa. Despite rebuilding, Stefan Olofsson further eroded his stack, leaving him with 130,000 in Level 20. Chuttani’s valiant run ended in Level 21 when his pocket nines were outdrawn by Slimane Mameche’s pocket jacks, securing him a respectable 78th-place finish and a €17,250 (~₹15.48 Lakhs) payout – his first cash of the series.

Santhosh Suvarna

Santhosh Suvarna, a seasoned Indian super high roller, entered Day 3 with a short stack of 136,000. After battling through prior events without reaching the money, he finally managed a cash finish in the EPT Main Event, placing 139th for €13,100 (~₹11.76 Lakhs).

The action-packed day also saw the departure of other well-known players like Alex Keating (65th for €19,850), Benny Glaser (69th for €19,850), Romain Lewis (76th for €17,250) and Tobias Peters (93rd for €17,250).

The remaining 57 hopefuls, including notables like Anton Wigg (1,250,000), Farid Jattin (780,000), Eliot Hudon (635,000), and Dimitar Danchev (285,000), will return on Friday, February 23, at noon (local time) for an intense Day 4.

€3,000 Mystery Bounty: Ankit Ahuja, Kartik Ved & Jeevan Lobo Cash the Mystery Bounty, Al-Sayegh Leads as Excitement Builds for Day 3

The €3,000 Mystery Bounty at the 2024 EPT Paris is bursting with excitement as Day 3 approaches. With the €298,796 top prize in sight, the remaining 14 finalists will battle it out for the title. Mustafa Al-Sayegh of Belgium sits atop the leaderboard with a massive 5,425,000 chips, trailed by Ram Faravash (4,270,000) and Tsugunari Toma (3,000,000).

The event’s popularity was evident, with 170 entries on Day 2, swelling the total field to 383. Ultimately, 997 total entries generated a €1.68 Million prize pool, offering cash prizes and the thrill of mystery bounties to a total of 143 players.

While India’s strong presence in the early stages dwindled on Day 2, the three Indian players who started the day made their mark.

Ankit Ahuja, 2023 GPI POY India, put on a clinic of skilful play. After starting the day with 199,000 chips, he navigated the field and peaked at 1,510,000. However, he was ultimately eliminated by Day 3 chip leader Al-Sayegh in 17th place, earning a respectable €12,300 (~₹11.04 Lakhs). This adds to his impressive series winnings of €38,450 (~₹34.51 Lakhs).

The final 14 will return on Friday, February 23, at 12:30 PM (local time) to play 40-minute levels until a champion emerges.

2024 PokerStars EPT Paris: India’s Hopes Rest on Sahil Chuttani & Santhosh Suvarna as Record EPT Main Event Field Narrows to 222 Players on Day 2

The 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris Main Event has etched its name in poker history. A staggering 1,747 entries (counting the 86 late entrants on Day 2 ) – the sixth-largest EPT field ever and the largest outside of Barcelona – fueled a colossal €8,385,600 prize pool. Now, after a gruelling Day 2, only 222 players remain, including India’s poker heavyweights, Sahil Chuttani (359,000) and Santhosh Suvarna (136,000), battling for a shot at the €1,287,800 top prize.

The 25-year-old Canadian pro Eliot Hudon leads the charge with a dominant 955,000 chips. Greece’s Alexios Zervos (788,000) and Austria’s Matthias Lipp (714,000) round out the top three, creating a tense battle at the top order.

Of the 558 participants that returned on Day 2, were five Indians, but barring Chuttani and Suvarna, all others fell out before the end of play.

Sahil Chuttani, a rising force on the European circuit since September 2022, entered Day 2 with a healthy stack of 183,000 and nearly doubled it by day’s end. While he is no longer very active in online tournaments back home, his recent deep runs in the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour and a title at the 2023 FPS Aix en Provence Mystery Bounty could prove invaluable as the pressure mounts.

Santhosh Suvarna, a titan of the international high-roller scene, has captivated the poker world with his Triton Poker Super High Roller and WSOP bracelet victories. Despite starting Day 2 with a below-average stack, Suvarna’s experience propelled him into the money, securing his first cash of the series and setting the stage for a potential comeback story.

Santhosh Suvarna

The erstwhile casino operator’s run in the ongoing series did not start off with a bang. After falling short of the money line in three previous tournaments, Survarna finally got things going in the Main Event. He began Day 2 with a slightly below-average stack of 83,500. His run on Day 2 saw him pull off the eliminations of Aurelien Russo during Level 12 and Valentino Konakchiev in Level 15. Suvarna ended Day 2, once again, with a below-average stack of 136,000. However, this time, he has locked in at least €9,900 in the Main event for what will be his first cash finish in the series.

Sadly, WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer, Apoorva Goel, and Krishna Madhariwar, who also advanced to Day 2, were unable to reach the payout positions.

The rest of the field is littered with former EPT champions like Anton Wigg (343,000), Robin Ylitalo (329,000), Arsenii Karmatckii (305,000), Tom Middleton (151,000), Nicolas Dumont (87,000), and Aliaksei Boika (73,000). EPT Prague champion Padraig O’Neill (290,000) and EPT Barcelona champion Simon Wiciak (119,000), the latest Team PokerStars Pro, are also vying for the title, with O’Neill aiming to set a record by winning consecutive EPT titles.

As Day 3 commenced on Thursday, February 22, at noon (local time), the remaining players are closer to the final table and the grand prize of €1,287,800, especially now that the money bubble has burst, heightening the anticipation and competition.

  10. Eric Sfez – 551,000

Concurrent with Day 2 of the EPT Paris Main Event, the €3,000 Mystery Bounty also exploded with 827 entries, generating a massive €1,395,976 prize pool and adding thrilling €827,000 in bounty payouts. With late registration open until the start of Day 2, these figures are expected to rise further.

After a fierce Day 1, 213 players remain, led by France’s Stephane Gabarre (401,500). Lebanon’s Elie Dib (372,500) and Italy’s Christian Rotundo (357,500) are close on his heels.

Noteworthy among the Day 2 qualifiers are three Indian players: Kartik Ved, a WSOP bracelet winner, with 216,000 chips; Ankit Ahuja, the 2023 GPI POY India, with 199,000 chips; and Jeevan Lobo, with 105,000 chips.

Day 2 of the Mystery Bounty started at 12:30 PM (local time) on Thursday, February 22. Each player received a Mystery Bounty token at the beginning of Day 2. This token enables players to claim a mystery bounty for each opponent they eliminate from the tournament. The bounties offer a range of values, potentially including €100,000, €50,000, €30,000, €15,000, €10,000, €5,000, €1,000, and €500, adding an exciting layer of unpredictability and reward to the competition.

2024 PokerStars EPT Paris: India’s Santhosh Suvarna, Apoorva Goel & Krishna Madhariwar Advance Through EPT Main Event Day 1B Amidst Record-Breaking Turnout

The stakes soared at the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Paris on Tuesday as the second and final starting flight of the €5,300 EPT Paris Main Event ignited fierce competition within the Palais des Congres. The second starting flight unleashed a wave of 1,054 entries, pushing the total field size to a remarkable 1,661. This surpasses last year’s turnout, with the prize pool already smashing the €8 million mark and late registration open until Day 2 begins.

After a gruelling day of action, 358 players secured their tickets to Day 2. France’s Gregory Fournier emerged as the chip leader with a commanding 351,000 stack. Hot on his heels were Romania’s Gheorghe Fedorca (310,500) and China’s Ruida Lin (304,500), each outpacing Day 1A‘s frontrunner, Eero Rantala (299,000).

Out of five Indian contenders on Day 1B, a trio successfully advanced, namely Santhosh Suvarna (83,500), Apoorva Goel (33,000) and Krishna Madhariwar (26,500).

Santhosh Suvarna hasn’t had a great series so far. The well-known super high roller played the €25,000 NL Hold ’em I and II and the EPT Super High Roller, falling agonizingly short of the money line each time. Things finally took a turn for the better for Suvarna on Day 1B of the Main Event, as he found a bag for Day 2. Though his stack of 83,500 chips is slightly below the average, Survarna’s dominating performance from last year bears witness to the fact that the erstwhile casino operator has the skills to run deep in an elite field like the EPT Main Event.

Santhosh Suvarna

Apoorva Goel has become an EPT regular over the past few years, bagging scores across various EPT stops. While he has yet to score in the ongoing series, he participated in Day 1A and failed to make the cut. Using his second and last entry, Goel entered Day 1B and, until Level 7, boasted a healthy stack of 160,000. Sometime before the end of the day’s play, Goel suffered a downswing, eventually bagging a below-average 33,000 chips.

Apoorva Goel

Krishna Madhariwar just about made it to Day 2 with 26,500 chips, slightly below the starting count.

Two Indian poker veterans, Ankit Ahuja and WSOP bracelet winner Kartik Ved, were also in the mix on Day 1B but sadly failed to survive the day`s onslaught.

Suvarna, Goel, and Madhariwar will join Day 1A qualifiers Sahil Chuttani (183,000) and WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer (60,000) on Day 2.

The action resumes on Wednesday, February 21, at noon (local time) as Day 2 of the Main Event promises thrilling duels and unexpected twists.
