FTP and more

November 16, 2012 in News

So I am back at Full tilt trying to grind up my bankroll again. I have really missed FTP since black Friday.
PokerStars have all the biggest and probably the best games, but something has been missing in the online poker world since they shut it down.
I even had some dollars left in my account, which was appreciated after having a 16 email conversation with their support until they finally
gave me access to my account again.

I have been playing mostly micros and also a cpl of bigger buyin tournaments. Nothing fancy but some wins and deep runs in smaller rush tournaments.
Going to continue with micros and some satellites for double deuce and some other thingies for this weekend and hopefully I’ll get a nice run somewhere.

Season have started in Goa and my life is busier then before and unfortunately I will not have as much time for poker and everything it includes,
but I will be around here blogging every now and then, and of course I will be showing up at some the tournies at the casinos.

Gonna keep it a little short and will try to find some content to write after this week, GL to you all at the tables.

Pgmp 2 coming up

October 8, 2012 in News

So we completed all the MTT lessions with Adi and we are just doing hand histories now.
It has been a wonderful journey together with other dedicated players, that have been willing
to put some time and energy into learning to play poker.

PokerGuru Mentorship program II is up for next
PGMP is a great opportunity for all players who wish to learn the deeper aspects of MTT play.
and if you didn’t sign up for the program yet, think again.

For my part, the preflop strategies we have been going through have totally changed my way of playing and thinking
about poker. All the other stuff is very good too, but this is my biggest change since we started working with PGMP.

I have only been playing short sessions lately, and things seem to work out but very slow..
Gonna continue with HH reviews and and playing accordingly!!! to my bankroll for some time and hopefully
update you with some good news.

Poker, bitcoins and Goa.

September 24, 2012 in News

Sun came back, and the rain is soon gone. Season is about to start and we at the mentorship program are preparing us for a great poker season in Goa.
We are getting close to our final sessions now and as always it is very interesting to go through some new stuff and ideas
about hands and situations. We have also been railing Adi and Prabhat quite a lot during WCOOP, which now is at it’s last day.
For my part WCOOP was over for a week ago already, I messed up my bankroll with satellites and and tourneys so I stay calm for a while.

I went for the IPS main event, that was running this weekend.
I like the slow structure in their main event, and I am trying to play it every now and then. Also that people are coming back to tournament poker
makes it more interesting. Really good thing that tournament organizers have cut down on re-buy and re-entry tournies, good strategy that seems to work.
For my part the main event was not a success, I played decently but got into some weird situations. My tourney finished when I had AKo against villains KJs
on a KJ3 board. Well that’s life. New tourneys coming up around the corner.

Something else I did find this week was this article at pokerlistings about how bitcoin could change the poker industry.
I think this is a good solution for ex Indian, American and turkish pokerplayers
which many times experience difficulties with opening accounts or topping up their accounts.
I am also suggesting our own Asian online poker rooms to implement this in to their systems.
This would make life much easier for many customers and they would be able to get worldwide customers and more traffic to their rooms.
The link I read this week is here http://www.pokerlistings.com/could-digital-currency-bitcoin-set-online-poker-free-20300, please look into this and let me know your views about this.

titleless…

September 10, 2012 in News

So my break didn’t take long, less then 48 hours actually 🙂
A friend of mine talked me into playing again so here we are.
I’ve been playing quite a few MTTs lately, mostly beacuse the stuff that we have been learning in
the mentorship program starts to work out more and more, and making my runs deeper and deeper.

I had a cpl of deep runs last week and a cpl more yesterday.
Best result yesterday was in 3.3$ 6-handed where I finished 34th after been having chiplead most part of the tournament.
Nothing fancy but getting closer to my goal everyday.
I also ended up playing WCOOP Omaha 320$ I think it was event 3. This was a terrible mistake,
because I was playing the satellite for it and was hoping to just get the tournament dollars,
but the game had already started when I was ready with my sat so no other options theen to play.
The Omaha tourney itself was no success for me, got busted already after some 3 hours or so.

I have also been railing a lot of players lately. It has been very interesting watching Adi, prabhat and KC lately,
try to understand what they are doing and why. Many times I get really surprised over the action in the hands. But I learn a lot from this.
Another player who is interesting to watch a good friend of mine since 20 years back is Jalla79,
and he is playing tonight in day2 WCOOP#21. He is in position 47/103 with about 36BB.
He was making a killing yesterday and I really hope he will make the final table today.

This week I will not be playing so much, but reading re-reading and watching poker.
I have been reviewing hand histories and reading a lot lately, and I think I have identified
and plugged some of my leaks, time will tell.

We had UPC running at the casino this weekend, which seemed to be a huge success compared to what
we have been dealing with lately. 100+ players in event 1 and enough of players in the other events too..
Congrats to Danish, who managed to work his way in to two finaltables during the weekend. GG Danish.

that’s it for now

One step forward, 2 steps back.

August 28, 2012 in News

So I started my cash game experiment for a while ago. This did’nt last for more then 3500 hands. I was working my way up for the first 2500 hands and made some 1200BBs before everything changed.
I could suddenly not hit one hand anymore, and if I hit something they would suck me out on river every time.
Also bluffing became almost impossible, ok this was the only way for me to win any hands by bluffing my opponents
because I lost every hand at showdown. The bluffing allowed me to keep some of my roll.
So for now I will put this experiment on hold and maybe give it a try later when I feel rady for it again.

Also my tournament play have not worked out the way it should have. Both july and August have been losing months for me in tournaments.
I have played tonnes of tourneys but my roll is just shrinking, and I can’t put my finger on what has gone wrong with my play.
Most of the tourneys I start really well and build up a stack quite fast, and have no problem keeping on building it until some time before ITM,
that’s when I loose my stack during a few hands almost every time.

I have had a cpl of deep runs and even some FTs but I have lost too much.
Ok, I know one biggie I have been doing, I started playing big 11s and 22s when my roll was above 12-1300,
and they started out quite well, with several semi deep runs.
But I didn’t stop doing them when my roll shrank down to hundreds after my cash game fiasco.

I was comparing some stats from my previous nick on stars with my current one, and it seems like I was doing better before.
My ITM was 4% higher, I had made almost twice as much money on a lesser amount tourneys then now.
I am really confused. I don’t know where to start looking for my other leaks,
so I’ll take a break from everything and try to figure out what is wrong
So I guess we won’t be seeing each others at the tables for a while.

I have something I would like to recommend for all of you out there.

http://www.pokerstrategy.com/software/10/ this is equilab, similar to pokerstove but more functions.
http://www.pokerstrategy.com/software/14/ this is same as above but Omaha version.
http://www.pokerscout.com is a great site where you can find a lot of good info about poker sites,
and which sites and tables high stake players/pros are playing at. definitely worth a look.

That’s it for now

news update

August 9, 2012 in News

Lots of interesting stuff going on in the poker world again.
We have the recovery of Full tilt coming up which has taken so long that I can’t even remember
my login credentials for the site anymore. The only really negative thing about this is
that poker stars by buying FTP will have even more power over poker industry, which I think should be spread out to more companies.

WCOOP is almost here too, always great action and good payouts in big events like this. Will be very interesting.
I’m not sure if and what I will play, have other plans for the moment, but I guess I will end up grinding some of the lower buy in events.

And here in Goa, we have our government vs. Casinos battle going on.
Our beloved chief minister has changed the rules for casinos once again, no persons under the age of 21 are allowed at casinos (I guess same as before?)
and he wants a ban for goans from entering the casinos too, actually not just Goans but all non-tourists.
As far as I understood, they had already passed the the new rules last week, but the good news is
they have already been challenged in the high court. More to come about this issue.

And me, my last live game was at PGT 5K and the satellite for high roller.
The 5K I think I played quite okay but it wasn’t quite enough, finished around 15th.
Sumit, Laveena and Nitish had good runs and played very well from what I could see. GG to you guys.

Online I have started to play cash games again. Have played a cpl of thousand hands on .5/1NL 6 handed which is going good.
6 handed cash game is the only cash game I like. It is always easy to get action and people play these games much looser.
Hopefully I will have a nice graph to put up here in a cpl of weeks.

I have made some changes in playing tourneys too. first of all, I am not multi tabling with so many tables anymore,
I play much better and go much deeper when I play with 1-3 tables then with 6-8.
The second big difference is my game. I am playing a very loose game now, Hyper-LAG is a pretty mild word for the stuff I do online,
and it works out fine too. I make more deep runs then before, and when I go deep I tend to be there with a big stack. This wasn’t as common before as it is now.
That’s all for me now.

Micro mills starting.

July 13, 2012 in News

WSOP with all it’s top players fighting for bracelets and millions of dollars is almost at it’s end for this year.
It’s only the last few days of main event yet to go, but the action in the tournaments and outside the tables have been something else this year.
Some of the notable action that occured was when Phil Hellmuth got his 12th bracelet and made it one level harder for his opponents to catch himin the bracelet race.
Phil Ivey has been sitting at five final tables this year and will probably win the POY price, this would not have been that bad if he didn’t have all the bracelet side bets.
The word is that he had made some BIG bets of him winning at least one bracelet this year which he did not succeed with, unfortunately. Better luck next year Phil.
Esfandiari won the biggest tournament price ever 18+ mills in the One drop event at WSOP by defeating a super strong field of 48 players.
For my part I have been concentrated on learning the stuff Adi is teaching us, and I think I’m a few steps closer to my goal.
There’s been a lot of reading and grinding almost every day on the lower levels.
Now for the next ten days, the micro millions will keep me busy at the virtual tables. I will be concentrating on Omaha and hold’em games.
Going to try to avoid re-buy tournaments and 3x turbos. I played a cpl of events as warm-up already,
I’m really looking forward to the next live events in Goa and more sessions with Adi and the group, have not been any of this for a while because of Adi have been busy with WSOP where he ran pretty good btw.. He made a 19th and 99th place in events with a large number of players

Until next time Olli.

In between

July 24, 2012 in News

So finally the micro millions are past together with IPL and i didn’t make a huge success this time either.
I tried the satellites for IPL, both these ended quite early for my part.
In the 3K, I managed to build a stack during the first hour, and then after first break i had to move to a different table.
I had 2 interesting but fatal hands at this table. I opened from CO with ATs and BB calls. The flop shows K33ss.
BB goes allin which I cover with a stack about twice of his.. I thought for quite a long time about the hand,
even though I had a bigger stack, huge flush draw and quite often have the best hand already here.
But after some time I felt like I should call. he showed 66 I did’nt hit anything and he got the pot.
I lost a couple of more hands and got moved back to my first table very short stacked. I get involved in a hand soon again With AKo.
I’m allin and get the callers i don;t hit anything and the hand goes to Rakesh Sharma with his queens. Out and on my way home.
From the 10K sat there wasn’t so much to say… I ran really bad, was shortstacked all the time. Couldn’t find any situations or cards to play with.
And I ended early when I call my last 2-3 blinds with KJo and up against AJo,
I was grinding pretty hard at the micro millions which was not good enough for this time.
I had only a cpl of semi deep runs, very few ITMs. All this says I’m not playing well at the moment, and I can’t really put my finger on where my leaks are right now.
I have been learning alot of new stuff from Adi and the group lately, which have changed my style of playing quite dramatically.
This means there is and will be a lot of situations which i have not been into before, and this gives plenty of room for mistakes. Hopefully I’m just in between of something.
Oki, enough of this. Will give you a new update after PGT..

micro million pre grind

July 4, 2012 in News

We are having some time off from the mentorship program while Adi is doing Vegas, plenty of time for just grinding.
As usual, I’ve been putting volume in playing tourneys. Nothing interesting happened since last week except for some semi-deep
runs here and there.
And since Sunday I have been preparing my bankroll for micro millions by grinding 18pl SnGs.
I really like these. Easy and fast to play and good ROI from them. I open up usually 6 of them, finish them off. 5 min break and then 6 more..
In the WSOP it’s crazy as usual. Yesterdays final table in the One drop, and the whole tournament has been so wild.
With all those top players buying in for a mill us$ each to start with, then the line-up…WOW!!
Would be fun to see pictures from Esfandiaris after party..
Also Adi is running hot, info for those of you who didn’t know:) cashed yesterday for 99th place in event 56, had a deep run before that and is gonna crush the following events:)
I guess I’ll continue with Sngs and maybe some live action at the casino later this week. will update you later.

small glimpses of hope

June 26, 2012 in News

So last week was all grinding and re-reading all the stuff we have been going through in the mentorship program.
I have been putting a lot of time and work to identify and plug the leaks in my game, mostly by re-viewing my hand histories
and by making small experimental adjustments in my game. And it feels like it was well invested time and money.

I had two nice runs during the week, the first in 2.20$ 6-max 6K guarantee, where I did get a 2nd place against some 3500 field of players.
I wasn’t really expecting anything from this one until it was less then 100 players left.. I was doing a good job surving all the way
but couldn’t really find many good hands until at the endpart of this tourney.
No big surpriseson the final table, most of us opened quite wide and played aggressively, and the smallest stacks
wasn’t able to survive this constant bombardment from bigger stacks..

The second nice run was in a 22$ deepstack tourney. I think these deepstacks are a bit crazy, this one tournament took 9 hours for me to
finish in a 4th place, they take incredibly long time and people tend to play pretty tightish in these.
Anyways, I took control of my table quite early and played a lot of hands.. at around mid tournament I became chipleader and kept my position
for the rest of the tourney until I finished 4th after a few bad hands.
The final table in this tourney took just so long time. I think average stack was about 100BB on final table, and all of us had good stacks
so it became the longest and the most even final table I have ever seen, or experienced.

On Sunday I did finally find a little extra time to go and visit Royale for casino royale cup, and the 12K bounty.
I came late and had to take a late registration in the 3th level.
I was a little sadly surprised by the low number of entries only 21 but I played anyway and I did get some interesting hands right
in the beginning with for ex. A5s on a A56AA board among others.
I wasn’t there too long, I was moved to a different table and in the second hand Laveena raises from UTG and everybody folds to me,
I look at AKo and my stack with some 11BBs left. I push and laveena insta calls with 99 and kicks me out of this one..
I was a bit surprised that all the events in CR cup had quite low participation numbers compared to ther similar events.

Anyways, until next week. may the cards be with you

Rainy Goa

June 19, 2012 in News

Rain is pouring down on us in Goa, and this is just perfect for me. I love the rain, when everything gets green and all the old dead stuff is flushed away and replaced by new life, and now I have all the reasons to just stay inside grinding and learning more about poker.. I like the rain, but don’t wanna get wet.
Last week we had another good session with Adi and spoke more about preflop play. These sessions are definitely making a big change in my game.. The preflop and 3-bet strategies Adi is teaching us are sometimes bit of surprises but they seem to work very well and makes my game so much stronger.
Played some of the usual stuff, which is micro tournaments and MTT SnGs.. No big surprises, lots of experimenting, and trying to get comfortable with 6+ tables..
Also passed by the casino on Friday with some friends for some cash action. I played for some 4-5 hours and it really wasn’t my day… So after 2 hours I went upstairs and tried out the game floor for once and spent the rest of the night there..
I’m looking forward to todays session with Adi, feel like playing now, but my internet connection has not been very good lately.. Trying to solve it or maybe get a backup..?

Old habits

June 12, 2012 in News

Old habits can be hard to break at the poker table sometimes. I have learned this during last 2 weeks on PokerStars and the mentorship program.
I have been grinding micro SnGs and MTTs almost everyday last cpl of weeks.
And there has been a lot of experimenting with all the new stuff Adi is teaching us. Mainly our short stacked strategies and 3 betting strategies. Some of these strategies have been conflicting with my old playing habits especially when I play 4 tables or more. 4 tables+ puts me into autopilot mode and I don’t always think enough before pushing the button.
I have not been winning anything lately though, a few deep runs, a cpl of ITMs but in overall been on a loosing streak for the last week or so..
Gonna re-read our strategies today and start a new poker week tonight..
