Day 3 of the 2015 WSOP Europe Main Event is now in the books, with 21 out of the 65 players who took to the felts today, bagging chips for Day 4. WSOP bracelet winner Kevin MacPhee (cover image) overtook the start of the day chip leader Dzmitry Urbanovich to take the lead, and was the only player to bag over a million in chips. Urbanovich however is still in contention, though a lot lower in standings with a stack of 414,000.
India`s rising star Arsh Grover made an early exit today. Grover was unable to get anything going and lost half his stack on the first hand where he ran into pocket queens. A cooler soon after with pocket threes against pocket nines ended his WSOPE Main Event run in 57th place.
Grover tweeted his progress throughout the day:
It`s still a stacked field for Day 4 with several big names making it in the final 21. Andrew Lichtenberger, Erik Seidel, Dimitar Danchev, Adrien Allain, JC Alvarado and Dominik Nitsche, are some of the top guns still in the running. All of them have locked up a minimum of €23,500 in prize money, but all eyes are now on the gold bracelet and €883,000 top prize that awaits the champion.
With the top 32 set to make it in the money, it was Tobias Ziegler who got tagged as the “bubble boy” when he was eliminated in 33rd place.
The flood gates of eliminations was opened once the bubble burst with the likes of Jason Mercier (32nd – €20,000), Elliot Smith (29th – €20,000), Jeff Gross (28th – €20,000), Roland Israelashvili (27th – €20,000), Bejamin Pollak (26th – €20,000), and Jeff Rossiter (24th – €23,500) all hitting the rails before the end of play.
Play resumes on Thursday, at 12 p.m local time with the plan to play down to the final six players. The final six will then get a day off before resuming final table action on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 12 p.m local time.
