In this daily feature, we will bring you the key highlights of the 50th World Series of Poker (WSOP) to keep you abreast with the ongoings at the ‘World’s Biggest Poker Festival.’

July 6 was relatively less eventful than the controversy-mired Day 1C of the Main Event. While the first of the two Day 2’s of the Main Event played out at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Day 1A of the $1,111 Little One for One Drop ran alongside the mega poker tournament.

Day 2AB saw more than 3,248 runners return to content for the most prestigious title in the poker world, taking the player tally to 8,225 entries which is the second largest Main Event field in WSOP history! By the time the bags were brought, the field had whittled down to 1,087 participants. Among the survivors were a group of four Indians, led by Yudhishter Jaswal who amassed 346,600 (144 big blinds) in chips.

Running alongside Day 2AB of the Main Event was Day 1A of the $1,111 Little One for One Drop that attracted 702 entries. 253 players remained in the fray after the day’s play had concluded and this included a trio of Indians – Sanjay Sharma (175,400 – 110 big blinds), Nishant Sharma (107,100 – 70 big blinds) and Deepak Bothra (41,200 – 26 big blinds).

Timothy Su (791,000 – 330 big blinds) emerged as the chip leader for Day 2AB of the Main Event, while Leandry Ainonkpo (726,600 – 454 big blinds) bagged the biggest stack on Day 1A of the $1,111 Little One for One Drop.

 

Event #73: $10,000 Main Event Championship – Day 2AB

Over 3,248 players turned up at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino for Day 2AB and after five levels of scheduled play, only 1,087 among them were still in the running.

A group of 11 Indians had advanced to Day 2AB from the first two starting flights, and by the end of the day’s play, only four of them made it through to Day 3. Leading from the front is Yudhishter Jaswal who bagged a stack of 346,600 (144 big blinds). He will be joined on Day 3 by Young Gun Siddharth Karia (294,800 – 123 big blinds), Ankit Ahuja (275,200 – 115 big blinds) and Kunal Patni (66,500 – 83 big blinds).

Timothy Su (791,000 – 330 big blinds) bagged the chip lead and will be leading the 1,087 Day 2AB survivors to Day 3 on July 8.

Event #75: $1000 +$111 Little One for One Drop – Day 1A

702 entries were registered on Day 1A of $1,111 Little One for One Drop, and following 10 levels of play, the field was reduced to 253 players. Among the runners who made it through to Day 2 were a trio of Indians, namely Sanjay Sharma (175,400 – 110 big blinds), Nishant Sharma (107,100 – 70 big blinds) and Deepak Bothra (41,200 – 26 big blinds). In fact, Nishant Sharma was last seen in action on Day 1C of the Main Event, but he busted before the end of the day.

Leandry Ainonkpo emerged as the end of Day 1A chip leader and bagged a stack of 726,600 (454 big blinds).
