WSOP 2019: Sikander Rajwade, Shravan Chhabria, Nipun Java & Raghav Bansal Advance to Day 2D in the BIG 50

The numbers are in, and Event #3: BIG 50 – $500 No-Limit Hold’em of the 50th World Series of Poker (WSOP) has created history! Hosted across four sold-out starting flights the event registered a staggering 28,497 Entries (Day 1A – 6,148, Day 1B – 5,972, Day 1C – 7,206 and Day 1D – 9,171), smashing the prize pool guarantee and collecting more than $14 Million (unconfirmed) in prize money.

The final starting flight of the event – Day 1D – clocked the highest numbers at 9,171 entries which put the Pavilion Room of the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino to the test. Nevertheless, following 12 levels of intense play, the field dwindled down to 2,103 players who progressed to Day 2D.

Four Indian contenders managed to carry their stacks to Day 2D with Sikander Rajwade headlining the others with 434,000 in chips, followed by Shravan Chhabria (114,000), Nipun Java (92,000), and Raghav Bansal (59,000).

Andrei Khosh bagged the biggest Day 1D stack of 970,000 and will lead the survivors to Day 2D which is slated to play out on June 4 at 10 AM (Pacific Time Zone).

In the meantime, the 1,504 qualifiers of Day 1C will return to the felts for Day 2C later today and among them will be five Indian pros, namely, Kunal Patni (404,000), Sriharsha Doddapaneni (330,000), Prashray Rai (330,000), Kartik Ved (247,000), and Deepak Bothra (148,000) who will fight to qualify for Day 3.

The payouts for Day 2B have now been released by the WSOP, and there were two Indians – Ronak Vyas (534th for $1,101 – ₹76,149) and Siddharth Mundada (584th for $1,002 – ₹69,302) who finished in the money.

 

Event #3: BIG 50 – $500 No-Limit Hold’em – Day 1D

A jaw-dropping number of 9,171 entries were registered on Day 1D of the BIG 50 of which 2,103 runners made it till the end of the day.

Team India saw four of its challengers make the cut for Day 2D with Sikander Rajwade leading from the front. Rajwade’s first and only score at the series came in Event #11: PLO GIANT – $365 Pot-Limit Omaha, last year, where he finished 129th for $1,295. He will be looking to collect a few more cashes in this year’s series and is well on his way as he bagged a stack of 434,000 by the end of Day 1D.

Well-known pro Shravan Chhabria was also seen running in the event, and he too advanced to Day 2D with a stack of 114,000.

Nipun Java had earlier qualified to Day 2A but had failed to progress any further. He fired a second bullet on Day 1D where he amassed a stack of 92,000 by the time the bags were brought out.

Seasoned pro Raghav Bansal carried the shortest stack among the Indian contingent and narrowly made the cut for Day 2D with 59,000 in chips.

A large number of Indian-origin players qualified for Day 2D including Sunil Ruwanpura (360,000), Rajesh Mehta (350,000), Prabhat Kumar Ranjan (336,000), Arun Balasubramanian (335,000), Hiren Dharani (327,000), Ashok Kamani (318,000), Akash Desai (315,000), Jaspal Brar (310,000), Aashka Shah (290,000), Salim Mawani (282,000), Amit Sheth (214,000), Ravinder Bedi (212,000), Mohsin Charania (205,000), Bhargav Somaiya (193,000), Ritesh Patel (190,000), Jitendra Surwade (188,000), Ashok Ganesan (183,000), Kalpesh Shah (180,000), Harjinder Chawla (172,000), Kishor Sharma (172,000), Harshit Patel (166,000), Anshul Rai (145,000), Rajendra Ajmani (145,000), Amarender Puri (138,000), Ajay Gnanasambanthan (136,000), Chandrasekar Vellala (119,000), Rajesh Chelapurath (117,000), Rajeev Mathur (100,000), Raghavendra Dronavalli (72,000), Parmod Soni (67,000), Sandip Majumder (64,000), and Nilesh Choudhary (45,000).

Andrei Khosh emerged as the chip leader with 970,000 in chips. Hot on his coattails are Arne Kern (963,000) and Kevin Mooney (944,000), who have the second and third largest stacks respectively. Khosh will lead the 2,103 survivors from Day 1D to Day 2D, which will take place on June 4 at 10 AM (Pacific Time Zone).
