Event #22: $500 No-Limit Hold ’em Turbo Deepstack of the ongoing 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online kicked off at 3 PM (PDT) on July 22. The event attracted a field of 1,579 entries (1,082 unique and 497 re-buys), generating a very generous $710,550 prize pool. Following seven hours of intense play, Allan “Treeoflife” Cheung emerged as the victor, capturing not just his career-first WSOP bracelet, but also securing a personal-best $120,083 in prize money!

A relatively lesser-known player, before this win, Cheung had just three WSOP cashes to his name. All of which he has won at the ongoing series.

The Little Neck, New York resident, had started the final table with the third-largest stack. Cheung played a very patient game throughout the final table, so much so that he didn’t score any eliminations until he made it to heads-up play against Myles “Shipthemoney” Kotler. Despite starting out with a substantial chip deficit against Kotler, Cheung ultimately managed to claim the title and the bracelet.

Just four days ago, the runner-up Kotler was in the running for the WSOP bracelet in Event #18 but lost it in the heads-up to Scott “BudLightLime” Hempel. He tried hard to win the bracelet in this event as well, but sadly, yet again fell short by just one spot.

With the top 248 places assured payouts, Nikita Luther’s 2018 Tag Teammate and former bracelet winner, Giuseppe “Pantalette” Pantaleo became the unfortunate tournament bubble.

GGPoker Ambassador Daniel “DNegs” Negreanu (32nd for $2,913.25), Robert “bustinballs” Kuhn (40th for $2,415.87), Erica “huckcheevers” Lindgren (69th for $1,492.15), Melisa “NJ_Melisa” Singh (86th for $1,207.93) and Anthony “heheh” Zinno (93rd for $1,065.82) were among the noteworthy names who crossed the money line.

Four-time WSOP bracelet winner Mike “mouth123” Matusow has been in a lot of controversies lately. Last we heard of him, he was being roasted on Twitter for making a sexually suggestive threat against a female player for slow-rolling him. To be fair, Matusow hadn’t known that the player in question, Megan Milburn, was a woman. Nevertheless, his rant did not go down well with the poker community, following which Matusow was forced to apologize.

Well, today, the news surrounding him is a positive one. Matusow aka ‘The Mouth’ came very close to final tabling Event #22, but eventually bubbled the FT in 10th place when his was busted by Brian “JackBogle” Altman’s which bettered to a flopped flush on the board. Matusow banked a $7,247.51 payday.
