WSOP Online 2020: Former WSOP.com Online POY Ian Steinman Wins Event #27, Indo-American Lokesh Garg Finishes 6th

The inaugural 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online has already run through 27 out its 31 event-schedule on WSOP.com. The latest tourney to crown a champion was Event #27: $400 No-Limit Hold ’em Freezeout that pulled in 1,940 runners. The 2016 WSOP.com Online Player of the Year Ian “ApokerJoke2” Steinman topped the field and captured his first-ever WSOP bracelet, along with a whopping $110,556.72 payday!

A four-time WSOP Circuit ring winner, Steinman has been playing poker since he was 16 years old. He currently sits with $884,049 in total live earnings, out of which $654,816 he has won at the WSOP. Even before this win, he had scored an incredible 10 times in this ongoing series, including two final table finishes in Event #7: No Limit Hold ’em Knockout Deepstack (5th for $24,578) and Event #9: No Limit Hold ’em 6-Max (6th for $30,995), respectively.

Steinman had entered the final table in the chip lead and held onto it till the very end. Along the way, he eliminated “crezident,” Nicholas “Got_The_Glow” Brancato, “Psycho101” and eventual runner-up Satoshi “Godzillla” Tanaka.

Mikey “Mn_2Die4” Wangh bubbled the tournament in 290th place.

Bryan “Pellepelle” Piccioli (14th for $5,517.36), Mike “Mkspresident” Shin (30th for $2,793.60), Marjorie “Cheetara” Davidovic (86th for $1,117.44), Blake “shampainpopn” Whittington (128th for $907.92), Jamie “DanBilzerian” Kerstetter (163rd for $838.08) and Event #26 champion Ethan “RampageP” Yau (217th for $698.40), were among the known names who crossed the money line.

Four-time WSOP bracelet winner Shaun “Ddtgg” Deeb came close to winning a fifth title, falling just three places shy of the final table. His lost out to Satoshi “Godzillla” Tanaka’s that hit a set on the board . Deeb walked in 13th place for $5,517.36.

Final Table Recap

The shortest stack at the start of the final table, Chris “voltron12” Radcliff, was also the first player to be eliminated. His failed to match up against Lokesh “lanku111” Garg’s . While both players had flopped a pair of kings on the board, Garg’s Queen-high kicker won him the pot. Radcliff bowed out in ninth place.

Towards the end of Level 41, Huiwen “HLM99” Liu jammed for 2.13 Million from the cutoff with . “crezident” called from the big blind, holding . The board ran and “crezident” flopped top pair to eliminate Liu in eighth place.

About nine minutes later, Alida “av1925” Veliu raised all-in for 2.17 Million from UTG and “Psycho101” called from the cutoff.

Veliu was in the lead pre-flop, but the runout gave “Psycho101” a pair of aces, knocking Veliu out in seventh place.

Indo-American Lokesh “lanku111” Garg was the next one to depart. Ian “apokerjoker2” Steinman raised UTG for 560,000. Garg 3-bet all-in for 3.04 Million. Nicholas “Got_The_Glow” Brancato 4-bet jammed from the cutoff, and Steinman got out of the way. Brancato tabled and Garg turned over . The community cards read , and Brancato paired his ace on the turn, dismissing Garg in sixth place.

Towards the end of Level 43, “crezident” pitted their against Steinman’s . The board bricked, and “crezident” exited in fifth place.

Less than 30 minutes later, Steinman raised to 800,000 from UTG, and Nicholas “Got_The_Glow” Brancato 3-bet jammed from the button for 3.35 Million. Steinman called, holding . Brancato showed . The rundown missed both players. Steinman’s Queen-kicker eliminated Brancato in fourth place.

Finishing in third place was “Psycho101” when they moved all-in for 5.35 Million and Steinman 3-bet to 10.30 Million from the small blind. Satoshi “Godzillla” Tanaka folded his big blind, and “Psycho101” revealed . Steinman held . The board blanked, sending “Psycho101” to the rail.

The heads-up started with Ian “apokerjoker2” Steinman (30,900,000) enjoying a dominating lead over Satoshi “Godzillla” Tanaka (7,800,000). It was only a matter of time before Steinman claimed the title, and it took just 15 minutes for the tournament to wrap up.

On the final hand, Steinman raised all-in for 26.97 Million, and Tanaka called with his last 11.70 Million.

The rundown was of no help to Tanaka, ending his dream run in second place. Steinman went on to win his career-first WSOP gold bracelet, along with $110,557 in top prize!
