Event #4: $500 No-Limit Hold ’em Super Turbo of the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online series is now in the books. It took Matt “Bodeyster” Bode about six hours to clinch his first-ever WSOP gold bracelet and $97,091 in prize money. The event logged in 1,179 entries (828 unique and 351 re-entries), creating a prize pool of $530,550. Being a ‘Super Turbo’ event meant that the blinds went up every six minutes.
A behavior therapist by profession and an under-23 World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) Gold Medalist, Bode had no previous WSOP cashes to his name. He started the final table with the second shortest stack and steadily made his way to the top. Along the way, he eliminated “DrJayTrotter,” Kevin “ImaLuckSac” MacPhee and Frank “spaghettiii” Marasco.
He was facing a 2:1 chip deficit when he began the heads-up against Brian “XcrazylegsX” Frasca. However, the super turbo format worked to his advantage, and Bode managed to whisk the title away from Frasca, and the latter had to settle for a runner-up finish for $59,952.
Tweeting about his victory, Bode wrote:
