The second starting flight of the biggest-ever online tournament, Event #77: $5,000 No Limit Hold ’em Main Event of the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online series, played out on GGPoker and Natural8 on Tuesday. A player pool of 114 runners joined the action on Day 1B, but only 25 made it across to Day 2.

Boasting of a mind-boggling $25 Million prize pool guarantee, the Main Event will host 23 starting flights, two of which are now in the books. The tourney allows players to fire a maximum of three bullets. Once all the multiple Day 1s are completed, Day 2 will begin on August 30 and play until the field dwindles down to the final 40. The event will ultimately play down to a champion on September 5.

Day 1B culminated after 15 levels of play, and China’s Xuming “scplayer” Qi (cover image) emerged as the end-of-day chip leader with a stack of 620,372. A former APPT Macau Poker Cup champion, Qi is ranked 27th on China’s All-Time Money Lists with $887,444 in total live earnings. He has previously scored thrice in the ongoing series and presently has $94,445 in WSOP cashes.

A veteran pro, Smith, sits on top of Nevada’s All-Time Money List and is ranked fourth on the US All-Time Money List, with more than $36 Million in live tournament winnings! Smith has only scored once in this ongoing series, a 163rd place finish in Event #51: $400 PLO for $980. Before that, his last big score had come in the 2019 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series London, where he had finished third in the £1,050,000 No Limit Hold ’em – Triton Million for Charity for £7.2 Million.
