The eight-event-long PGT Mixed Games festival is almost over, with only Event #4: $10,300 Big Bet Mix yet to name a champion. Down to two players – Maxx Coleman and Ben Lamb – the heads-up match remains suspended, with the start time undecided. However, the last tournament of the series crowned a champion early Sunday morning, with Poker Central founder Cary Katz (cover image) clinching his first-ever mixed games title in Event #8: $5,300 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw for $83,200.

Katz trounced a 52-player field in the 2-7 Single Draw tournament to win the coveted PGT trophy. WSOP bracelet winner Johannes Becker took home $54,600 in second place.

Katz has a long-standing relationship with the poker felts and has amassed a jaw-dropping $36,371,906 in live tournament earnings over a poker career spanning 19 years. His career-best score is the $2.61 Million he won for taking down the £252,500 NLH High Roller at the 2019 Super High Roller Bowl London.

“After I bluffed off my chips in the $25k, I went home to do some work,” Katz said after his victory. “I sat at my computer and didn’t feel like working, so I decided to come and play this.”

With one tournament stuck at heads-up, the Mixed Games leaderboard rankings are fixed. Dan Zack (352 points) is in a defining lead and all set to be crowned as the first-ever Mixed Games festival champion. Event #2 winner John Monnette (316 points) finished #2 on the leaderboard. Event #5 champion Nick Guagenti (290 points) rounds out the top three places on the leaderboard.

The $5,300 entry buy-in tournament had 52 runners chasing the beautiful PGT Mixed Games trophy. The $260,000 prize pool was distributed among the top eight finishers.

Yuval Bronshtein (finished 9th) bore the brunt of falling on the money bubble, while Event #6 champion Scott Abrams (8th for $10,400) bubbled the final table in eighth place.

Final Table Recap

Nick Schulman (5th for $20,800), Billy O’Neil (6th for $15,600), and Chino Rheem (7th for $13,000) were the early eliminations on the final table.

Steve Zolotow was sent packing in fourth place by Johannes Becker.

On a knocking-out spree, Becker eliminated Arthur Morris next in third place.

After Morris left, Cary Katz found a double-up through his heads-up opponent, Johannes Becker. And Katz comfortably carried the chip lead over the finish line.

On the final hand, Katz raised all for 4,175,000 from the button, and Becker called off with his remaining 3,325,000 in the big blind.

Becker drew one while Katz stood pat.
