The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas has brought plenty of twists and turns for India’s poker icon, Santhosh Suvarna (cover image). After a year that saw him start strong with a win at EPT Paris and add a second bracelet to his collection during the summer series in Las Vegas, Suvarna arrived at the WSOP Paradise with high hopes. However, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges.
The series began with a string of close calls and early exits for Suvarna, leaving fans wondering if the poker star could turn things around. His first score finally came in Event #9: $25,000 WSOP Super Main Event, where he finished in 240th place, taking home $50,000 (~₹42.46 Lakhs). While it wasn’t the deep run many expected, it seemed to spark something.
Determined to bounce back, Suvarna entered Event #13: $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller with renewed focus. He made it to Day 2 with a healthy stack and played a remarkable game, navigating a competitive field filled with elite players. After a hard-fought run, Suvarna finished in 8th place, adding a hefty $209,420 (~₹1.78 Crores) to his year’s earnings. While the tournament didn’t end with him holding the trophy, it was a performance that reminded everyone why he’s considered one of India’s finest.
As the spotlight briefly dimmed on Suvarna, the attention shifted to the $25,000 Super Main Event, which is now down to its final nine players. Leading the charge is Michael Addamo, sitting atop a towering stack of 196.80 Million. With $6 Million and the iconic WSOP bracelet on the line, the final table promises to be an intense battle where every decision counts.

Meanwhile, Indian players continue to make their presence felt across other events. In Event #12: $10,000 GGMillion$ NLH Championship, Sriharsha Doddapaneni (500,000) and Vinay B (325,000) advanced to Day 2 among 46 survivors. Krishna Madhariwar also made a notable run, finishing 75th for $22,190 (~₹18.87 Lakhs).
Vinay B has been particularly active this series. Before his Day 2 qualification in the $10,000 GGMillion$ NLH Championship, he picked up his first cash in Event #14: Super Saver $1M Invitational, finishing 64th for $3,200 (~₹2.72 Lakhs).
