Negreanu’s path to victory was a straight-up steamroll. The six-time WSOP Player of the Year started the final table second in chips but quickly took over. He went on a tear in Omaha Hi-Lo, grabbing the chip lead early, and from there, it was all over. By the time it was six-handed, “Kid Poker” had nearly 40% of the chips, and he reached heads-up, holding a staggering 96% of the chips against Nick Schulman.
The final table action was streamed live (on delay) on PokerGO`s YouTube channel. You can watch the replay below.
Negreanu Takes Control Early
In a Dealer’s Choice event with a 20-game rotation, you need to be good at, well, everything. And Negreanu, building off the momentum of winning the $50K Poker Players Championship last summer and ending an 11-year bracelet drought, proved his mixed-game skills were sharper than ever.
The first big hit came in No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw. Negreanu’s 10-9 low took down Ryan Miller‘s pat jack, sending Miller home in seventh place with $39,000. That hand was a sign of things to come – Negreanu was just getting warmed up.
He then proceeded to dismantle Nick Schulman in consecutive Badeucy hands, ballooning his stack to over six million when no one else had more than a million. Maxx Coleman managed to temporarily slow the bleeding by eliminating Philip Sternheimer (6th – $53,625) in No-Limit Five Card Draw. However, the short stacks were fighting an uphill battle against Negreanu’s relentless aggression.
Surviving the Madness
Even with Negreanu running away with it, the short stacks weren’t going down quietly. Coleman, Schulman, Yuri Dzivielevski, and Dylan Smith kept things interesting by swapping double-ups in a flurry of all-in action. But the writing was on the wall. In No-Limit Hold’em, Coleman’s Ace-King beat Smith’s Jack-Eight, sending Smith out in fifth place for $73,125.
With the blinds going up, Maxx Coleman made his move in 2-7 No-Limit Single Draw. His draw to a nine-seven low came up empty against Negreanu’s pat nine-seven, leaving him with scraps. He was gone the very next hand in fourth place, taking home $97,500.
Yuri Dzivielevski didn’t last much longer. He was forced all-in from the big blind in a No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw hand and paired his four, ending his run in third place for $131,625. This left just one man standing between Negreanu and victory—Nick Schulman.
Schulman’s Near-Miracle Comeback Falls Short
If there was ever a time for a poker miracle, Nick Schulman nearly delivered one. Down 30-to-1 in chips, he managed five straight double-ups in Pot-Limit Omaha, Stud, and 2-7 Single Draw. He almost evened the stacks at one point in what would have been one of the most legendary comebacks ever seen on the PGT.
But Negreanu was not to be denied. The final hand was in Pot-Limit Omaha. Schulman got his last 2.9 Million in with , but he was in deep trouble against Negreanu’s . The board bricked out , and Schulman’s incredible fight ended in second place, good for $190,125.
Negreanu’s Legend Grows
With this win, Daniel Negreanu now boasts nearly $54 Million in live tournament earnings, keeping him at eighth on the all-time money list. More significantly, he now has 10 PGT titles, tying him with Stephen Chidwick.
The win also boosts Negreanu to third place in the PGT Mixed Games leaderboard as the series heads into its final event – the $25,300 10-Game Championship. If he keeps playing like this, he might just add another Player of the Series award to his collection.
One thing’s for sure: when Daniel Negreanu gets on a heater, there’s no stopping him. The 2025 PGT Mixed Games just became another legendary entry in his incredible career.
