Anthony Cico Wins Mid-States Poker Tour Ohio Poker State Championship For $140,771
Anthony Cico made an impressive tournament breakthrough on Sunday, February 19, posting his first-ever live tournament cash in the $1,100 buy-in Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Ohio Poker State Championship. Cico bested the 1,041-entry field and struck a four-way deal to capture the MSPT title and the top prize of $140,771.
Brent Ballentine placed runner-up to collect $106,890, while Dionta James (3rd for $102,278) and Andrew Shields (4th for $100,804) banked the other top payouts through the final table deal.
The event ran three starting flights, generating a prize pool of $1,008,270, becoming the first live poker tournament in Ohio to cross the $1 Million mark in prize money.
The top 108 players cashed for at least $2,117, and the final day began with 123 finalists. The money bubble burst relatively early on the last day, and following the formation of the final table, it took just over two hours for a champion to emerge.
At four-day-handed play, the remaining players agreed on a deal that handed Cico, who held the chip lead at the time, the winner.
Talking about his win, Cico later said, “It feels great, to be honest. I haven’t really played poker in a few years, and this was my first MSPT event ever, so it feels really awesome.”

Ignacio Menendez Wins Festival Nottingham Main Event For £37,595
Six hundred and nine players bought into The Festival Series Nottingham Main Event at Dusk Till Dawn, Nottingham. The £500 buy-in tournament collected a guarantee-smashing £232,292 prize pool, shared by the top 92 finishers.
The event played out its final day on February 19. Argentina’s Ignacio Menendez cruised to the finale, eventually striking a heads-up deal to claim the title and £37,595 in prize money. Sean O’Donnell secured a runner-up payday of £31,150.
A V (anonymity requested) was the first casualty on the final table, and following him out was Mark van der Voorden, who open-shoved for ten big blinds with pocket treys but found a caller in Sean O’Donnell who held a superior pair of tens.
Michael O’Brien quickly hit the rail next, his cowboys losing the race to Endrit Geci’s pocket aces.
With Vegard Andreassen, Dmitri Dudakov, and Gyorgy Simon busting next, it was down to a four-handed play.
Gyorgy Simon shoved with pocket tens from the small blind, but Menendez called, tabling a suited nine-seven that rivered a seven-high straight to eliminate Simon in fourth place.
Endrit Geci’s departure in third place set up the heads-up match between Menendez and Sean O’Donnell.
Menendez enjoyed a towering lead with 95 Million to O’Donnell’s 27 Million, but O’Donnell scooped a big pot cracking Menendez’s aces with jack-eight. Menendez was back in the lead in the next hand, and the duo decided to settle it with a deal that locked their payouts, leaving the trophy and £4,250 in play.
Menendez took down the final hand to claim both, with a full house of kings and sevens, besting O’Donnell’s flush draw.
