What a Sunday it was! Whether it was Novak Djokovic clinching his sixth Wimbledon title or Italy beating hosts England to become the 2021 UEFA European Football champions, there was action everywhere. Adding to this, after two weeks of relative calm, the virtual felts exploded with activity as the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) returned for its 11th edition on Spartan Poker.

The blockbuster tournament series saw five of its six Day 1 events’ crown winners. Topping the list was poker coach Abhishek Goindi who was the day`s biggest winner. Not only did he champion Spartan Poker’s IOPC#2 Sunday Prime for ₹8.19 Lakhs, but he also packed in another five ITM finishes to rake in ₹10.27 Lakhs in Sunday winnings.

The IOPC#2 played down to a three-way deal, with the FTS 2.0 Main Event runner-up finisher Avinit Bagri (2nd for ₹8.12 Lakhs) and ‘LorenzoVonMatterhorn’ (3rd for ₹8.05 Lakhs) collecting the other top payouts.

Young Gun Sahil Chutani captured his fourth Adda52 Millions title and a ₹6.50 Lakhs payday. He added two more deep runs to his Sunday tally, netting ₹8.12 Lakhs in total earnings.

PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun Mahesh also featured among the big Sunday winners as he took down PokerBaazi’s BSS#4 SuperStack for ₹4.23 Lakhs. He, too, posted several ITM finishes, collecting ₹6.41 Lakhs overall.

Arun Sriram, Nitin Arora, Haider Madraswala, Deepesh Raka, PokerGuru Ambassador Rony Chowdhury, Swapnil Patil, Rahul Sengar, and Adarsh Subham took down the other Sunday marquees.

Spartan Poker

The 11th edition of the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) got off to a roaring start on Sunday. Day 1 of #MissionKhazana saw players hunting for glory in six events, out of which five crowned champions.

The first major attraction of the 22-day long series was the ₹1 Crore GTD Blaze of Glory. The ₹7,700 entry buy-in event hosted three starting flights yesterday, clocking in 1,500 entries (Day 1A – 421, Day 1B – 528, Day 1C – 551), collecting a whopping ₹1.05 Crore prize pool. Only 222 qualifiers (Day 1A – 63, Day 1B – 66, Day 1C – 93), including 184 unique players, progressing to Day 2.

Day 2 ultimately played down to the eight-handed final table, headlined by Ashwin ‘A116’ Vijay (3,149,983). Advait ‘GTIO18’ Rajguru (3,116,696), the Sunday Showdown runner-up finisher, Young Gun Siddharth ‘Ari Tribbani’ Karia (2,635,124), Harshad ‘omglukbox’ Barve (2,112,751), Guneet ‘GeeKay’ Kwatra (2,027,390), Young Gun Shardul ‘Faucet Failure’ Parthasarathi (1,485,110), and Sachin ‘Ullumanati’ Sharma (1,043,342) were among the known names to make it to the final table. The final table commences at 5 PM today and will be live-streamed across multiple platforms, including PokerGuru’s Facebook page from 6 PM onwards.

Coming back to the events that did crown champions last night, poker coach Abhishek ‘MambaMentality’ Goindi towered over the 571 contenders in the ₹60 Lakhs GTD IOPC#2 Sunday Prime to collect the first-place prize ₹8.19 Lakhs, and an IOPC Gold Badge. The Poker India Bootcamp co-founder struck a three-way deal with the FTS 2.0 Main Event runner-up Avinit ‘pushnpray17’ Bagri (runner-up for ₹8.12 Lakhs) and former Sunday Superstack champion ‘LorenzoVonMatterhorn’ (3rd for ₹8.05 Lakhs).

The former IOPC Super Highroller fourth-place finisher Abhishek Goindi, who was one of the panelists at the ‘Pre-Flop Show’ for the National Poker Series along with sports anchor Ridhima Pathak and poker commentator Sriram Chakravarthy, was in trailblazing form last night as he raked up about ₹10.27 Lakhs in Sunday winnings from six ITM scores.

Apart from the title win in the IOPC#2 Sunday Prime, Abhishek Goindi cashed in three more IOPC events to move into an early lead on the ₹1 Crore added IOPC leaderboard standings with 1,834 leaderboard points. His ITM runs include:

Speaking of the ₹10 Lakhs GTD IOPC#3 Sunday Spotlight, the four-time Destiny champion Nitin ‘Demogorgon’ Arora reigned supreme over the 628-entry field and netted the lion’s share of the ₹18.84 Lakhs prize pool worth ₹3.65 Lakhs. PokerGuru Ambassador Vishal ‘CrownUpJr’ Bajaj finished runner-up for ₹2.32 Lakhs.

This happens to be Nitin Arora’s second IOPC title. He had won IOPC #79 in the January 2021 edition for ₹1.72 Lakhs.

Poker coach Anirban ‘nocluewho’ D Das finished ITM in 12 events yesterday, collectively earning ₹2.80 Lakhs. These scores included two FT finishes, namely, Spartan Poker’s IOPC #3 Sunday Spotlight (4th for 1.35 Lakhs) and PokerStars India’s Sunday Highroller PKO (5th for ₹59,105).

Sporting an affordable ₹660 entry buy-in, the event garnered 3,012 entries (Day 1A – 1,005, Day 1B – 1,075, and Day 1C – 932) over three starting flights to collect a guarantee crushing ₹18.07 Lakhs prize pool (over 50% more than its advertised guarantee). A total of 311 runners (274 unique) advanced to Day 2, with all of them assured a min-cash of ₹1,536. Haider ‘Callmebabe’ Madraswala was the last player standing and banked the ₹2.98 Lakhs up-top, while Archit ‘Archit789’ Saraogi received ₹1.63 Lakhs for his runner-up finish. Madraswala now has ₹1.32 Crores in lifetime scores with ₹31.01 Lakhs in net profits.

Two weeks since the inaugural National Poker Series culminated, the action on PokerBaazi is still sizzling hot. Sunday’s roster was headlined by the ₹20 Lakhs GTD BSS#4 SuperStack, and despite the IOPC hogging all the attention, the ₹5,500 entry buy-in marquee still generated a smashing ₹23.85 Lakhs prize pool from a turnout of 477 entrants. The former Millionaire champion, PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun ‘thepokeraja’ Mahesh, was back in the thick of the action following a week-long break. He went on to clinch the BSS SuperStack title, along with a ₹4.23 Lakhs top prize. A heads-up deal saw Nikhil ‘blastupinside’ Arora walk away with a second-place payout worth ₹3.92 Lakhs.

For a second consecutive week, PokerStars India hosted both the Sunday Special and Sunday Highroller. However, this time, both events ran with a PKO format.

First up was the ₹15 Lakhs GTD Sunday Special Progressive KO that got underway at 5 PM and culminated at 1:18 AM after crowning a champion in mystery user ‘tabahi2k18’, who took home ₹2.77 Lakhs (includes ₹1.38 Lakhs in bounties). The former Millionaire champion Young Gun Devang ‘trappyfish93’ Yadav settled for a runner-up finish worth ₹1.70 Lakhs (includes ₹32,812 in bounties).

The 8 PM IOPC attraction was the ₹60 Lakhs GTD IOPC #2 Sunday Prime. The tourney garnered 571 entries, filling in ₹2.90 Lakhs in overlays. The action went on till 5 AM when the final three players agreed on a deal.

Poker coach and former DPT High Roller champion Abhishek ‘MambaMentality’ Goindi clinched the title for a ₹8.19 Lakhs payday. The FTS 2.0 Main Event runner-up Avinit ‘pushnpray17’ Bagri (2nd for ₹8.12 Lakhs) and former Sunday Superstack champion ‘LorenzoVonMatterhorn’ (3rd for ₹8.05 Lakhs) booked the next best scores, courtesy of the three-way deal.

The win fetched Abhishek Goindi, his first tourney title of the year, and his first IOPC Gold Badge. The co-founder of Poker Bootcamp India had picked his personal-best online score worth ₹13.23 Lakhs with a fourth-place finish in the IOPC #99 Super High Roller in July last year.

Goindi posted another five ITM finishes, ringing in ₹10.27 Lakhs in Sunday winnings. His ITM finishes include:
