A week ago, Aditya ‘Intervention’ Agarwal (cover image) blogged that he would be attending the Aussie Millions in Jan-Feb, a small, but extremely important addition to that statement today is – Aditya will be attending the Aussie Millions as India’s first Team PokerStars Pro!

PokerStars is the world’s most popular and prestigious online site and the first choice of players across the globe.

Acknowledging Aditya’s amazing success at PokerStars’ biggest online tournaments and in the field of poker, the site made the announcement today anointing Aditya Agarwal as the official Indian face of the company.

Aditya has had an illustrious 10-year career playing professional poker and a long list of achievements on his poker resume. One of the pioneers of Indian poker, Kolkata native, Aditya was initiated into poker, while studying engineering in the US and graduated to a fully-fledged pro in a few years. Aditya is one of those rare players, who exhibits success at both, live and online tournaments and regularly flocks global destinations to participate different series, even as he straddles huge virtual poker tournaments.

While it will be difficult to recount all of Aditya’s impressive scores over the years here, we present a few of his amazing finishes in 2014.

Aditya was at WSOP for the 9th time in 2014, with six cashes, the most significant one being 457th place for $25,756 in the $10,000 Main Event, which had 6,683 entries. In event 44, Aditya made 16th place for $17,234.

At the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, Aditya made 30th place at the $5,300 Main Event for $39,910 in August!

After this, Aditya made $15,109 for 35th place finish at No Limit Hold’em – WPT Borgata Championship Re-Entry in September.

Aditya was equally active at online tournaments and made three first-place finishes in the month of July alone, totally collecting almost $30K.

He also scored $61,200 for a 5th place finish in the PokerStars ‘WCOOP Challenge Series in the $1,050 Event 4, $1 Million GTD’. He also made $17,030 for 2nd place in the ‘$109 NL Hold’em [Turbo, 2x Chance], $30K GTD’ on PokerStars in September.

Towards the end of the year, Aditya made a deep run at the last Sunday Million on PokerStars Dec 28, with a 388th finish among a huge entry field of 31,439.

An exceptional poker player, Aditya takes tremendous pains to study the game in depth, discussing it with his set of other professional players from across the world. He has not only utilized his immense accumulated knowledge to benefit his own game, but has also mentored a number of young talents, who have gone on to make records of their own.

With this move, Aditya has done India proud and history will remember him as the pioneer, who firmly placed the country on the global poker scene.

The unassuming Aditya remains his same soft-spoken self and speaks about the development saying; “I’ve been playing at PokerStars since 2004, so this is a dream come true for me. As a poker ambassador I want to help promote the game in India, and inspire more players to play and enjoy the sport.”

Aditya will now play under the name ‘Adi Agarwal’ on PokerStars representing his true identity; as against the incognito ‘Intervention’ most of us have seen him play under.

Besides Aditya in India, Japan too gets its first ambassador in Kosei Ichinose, who will be the first Japanese Team Pro to represent his country.

Both players will be attending the Aussie Millions AU $10,600 Main Event, which runs from Jan 25 to Feb 1, as officially sponsored Team PokerStars Pro`s.
