The 3-day 2014/2015 World Series of Poker Circuit Foxwoods $1,675 Main Event has concluded and after a tough fight, Allen “Chainsaw” Kessler (cover image) emerged the winner to take home $170,031 and the gold ring, after beating 526 entries.

The 526 entry field generated a prize pool of $790,841, with the top 54 places being paid.

Kessler already has 2 WSOP Circuit rings and almost $1.3 million earned at WSOP alone, with this latest win being the second largest of his career.

There was much excitement as the tournament attracted a lot of big names, including two November Niners, Michael Esposito from 2012 and William Pappaconstantinou from this year. Both were unable to keep up and did not make it to the money, even though they did garner a lot of attention.

The 3-day tournament saw little action from Kessler on the first two days and he credits his patience for making it to the final table. He finally reached the final day after collecting enough chips. Talking about it he says, “I was hovering around 200,000 forever and just waited and waited and waited.”

Day 3 started with 15 hopefuls and saw the action speeding up with 4 of them busting in the first one hour itself and the action continued unabated until there were only the last 4 players left in the fray.

Stacks were balanced after chips were traded and a four-handed play went on for another 3 hours, until Hilary Dombrowski was eliminated at 4th place. Greg White was next to exit at 3rd place with $76,791.

It was then time for a heads-up play between Mark Dube and Kessler, which went on for a good 2 hours, with neither player leaving any room for error.

The last moments saw Kessler doubling up with pocket sevens up against Dube’s and Kessler held out until the final hand went his way. On the final hand, Dube raised and Kessler made the call with . Dube held pocket duces but clearly Kessler was in the lead post the flop . The turn gave Kessler another pair with and the river completed the board to give Kessler the championship title, with Dube settling for $105,103 at 2nd place.

Kessler was extremely magnanimous in his victory and praised Dube, saying, “I tried to trap a few times. And neither time he went for it.”

He went on to add “I started out with a huge chip deficit. Then I won a big race to get even.

Allen Kessler was awarded $170,031, the gold ring and also gets a free seat in the 2015 WSOP National Championship.
