The National Poker Series (NPS), currently on its debut run on PokerBaazi, has well and truly captured the attention of the poker-playing masses. So much so that after a long time, Spartan Poker’s Sunday marquees, including the ever-popular The Millionaire, were hit with overlays. Given the highly affordable buy-ins and massive guarantees, it comes as no surprise that all the NPS tourneys so far have crushed their respective guarantees – and the aggressive marketing by PokerBaazi has only helped make NPS a roaring success.
While the NPS has enjoyed a successful start, Sunday’s biggest guarantee event was still Spartan Poker’s ₹1 Crore GTD The Millionaire. With 1,864 entrants on board, the event filled in ₹6.80 Lakhs in overlays. Anmol Narag became the latest entrant in the “Millionaire Club,” and he bagged his career-first Millionaire title for a personal-best ₹17.42 Lakhs*!
Vikranth Varma became the third player after Mohammad Azhar (Won NPS Kick-Off) and Satyam Prakash (Won NPS#36 NPS Super Highroller) to qualify for the ‘NPS Night of Champions’ that takes place on July 3. Varma won the NPS #48 Mini Main Event (Warm Up) for a whopping ₹11.05 Lakhs to earn his place at the champion’s table.
PokerGuru Ambassador Arjanveer Singh Chadha came excruciatingly close to claiming his first NPS gold medal, losing the battle heads-up to Vikranth Varma. Chadha settled for the silver medal, along with a ₹7.75 Lakhs payday. Nevertheless, he did make up for it by taking down Adda52’s Sunday Showdown for ₹2.04 Lakhs. The Chandigarh-based pro ended the night with cumulative winnings worth ₹11.55 Lakhs.
Speaking of multiple FT finishes, the former Grand Mega Suits winner, Shagun Jain, pocketed ₹10.28 Lakhs in overall Sunday earnings. He took down PokerStars India’s Sunday Highroller (PKO) and placed third in both PokerBaazi’s NPS Mini Main Event (Warm Up) and PokerStars India’s Sunday Special (PKO).
PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit Wadhawan has been on a breakout run since last week, and he took down yet another title on Sunday. This time it was the Adda52 Millions, adding ₹7.07 Lakhs to his ever-growing bankroll.
Pranav Bang (Won Spartan Poker’s Sunday Superstack for ₹6.83 Lakhs), PokerGuru Ambassador Gokul Raj (Won Adda52’s DeepStack Madness for ₹4.96 Lakhs), Kumar Vatsal (Won NPS #47 Marathon for ₹3 Lakhs), Anish Arora (Won Spartan Poker’s Money Heist for ₹2.28 Lakhs), and Amar Mehta (Won PokerBaazi’s NPS #50 Sprint for ₹2.61 Lakhs), were the other Sunday winners!
Here are the Sunday highlights!

The third Millionaire tourney of June gathered 1,864 entries across five starting flights and, after a long time, was made to fill in an overlay worth ₹6.80 Lakhs. Given the National Poker Series (NPS) onslaught on PokerBaazi, perhaps this shortfall isn’t that surprising. We’ll talk about the NPS in the following segment. Coming back to The Millionaire, 258 qualifying stacks (176 unique) made it through to Day 2.
After a little over six hours of play, the Day 1D chip leader Anmol ‘luckychewy23’ Narang emerged as the latest Millionaire netting a personal-best ₹17.20 Lakhs. Narang also placed 58th for ₹22,100, cashing ₹17.42 Lakhs overall.
Anmol Narang defeated the mystery reg ‘virgincow’ heads-up before grabbing his career-first Millionaire title, the latter settling for a runner-up finish worth ₹9.61 Lakhs. They also finished 188th for ₹11,300.
As we have come to expect, The Millionaire final table comprised of several well-known names like Anant ‘Prometheius’ Purohit (3rd for ₹6.72 Lakhs), Anirban ‘pokernoob’ D Das (5th for ₹3.88 Lakhs), Young Gun Neel ‘Worm33’ Joshi (6th for ₹3.08 Lakhs), Kaushik ‘ikigai’ Tibrewal (7th for ₹2.35 Lakhs) and PokerGuru Ambassador Vishal ‘CrownUpJr’ Bajaj (8th for ₹1.66 Lakhs).
The weekly Sunday bonanza, ₹40 Lakhs GTD Sunday Superstack, logged in 393 entries, overlaying ₹70,000. Pranav ‘I’mThePlayboi’ Bang championed the event for ₹6.83 Lakhs after striking a heads-up deal with poker coach, NPS bronze medallist, and PokerBaazi’s The Pre-Flop Show panelist, Abhishek ‘MambaMentality’ Goindi (runner-up for ₹6.51 Lakhs).
Anish ‘HotsForTheSlots’ Arora shipped the ₹12 Lakhs GTD Money Heist for ₹2.28 Lakhs, with ‘The Thunder Guy’ placing second for ₹1.40 Lakhs. The event attracted 995 participants, resulting in an overlay deficit worth ₹1.05 Lakhs.
PokerBaazi
Sunday marked Day 8 of the inaugural National Poker Series (NPS) on PokerBaazi with six events on the schedule and five NPS gold medals to be won. All eyes were on the series, and unsurprisingly all the events overrode their advertised guarantees by significant margins.
The ₹1 Crore GTD NPS Golden Rush played out the eighth of its 15 starting flights. Flight 1H drew 888 entries, and only 84 of them could qualify through to Day 2. Leading the lot is Dhaval ‘dhavhe’ Heda (710,000), with Janish ‘janish1998’ Jain (456,000), and ‘Realfc’ (384,000) being the other two top stacks of the day. The tournament has, by now, recorded 10,816 entries. With another seven starting flights still to run course, the event looks right on track to create a new attendance record!
Headlining the Sunday lineup of National Poker Series (NPS) events was the ₹50 Lakhs GTD NPS #48 Mini Main Event (Warm Up) that took off at 7.30 PM. With a field of 1,316 entries, the event collected a massive ₹65.80 Lakhs prize pool – a good 30% more than the listed guarantee. It was 5.18 AM today when play culminated, with former Millionaire Legends runner-up finisher Vikranth ‘borntrouble’ Varma making his way to the top to claim the ₹11.05 Lakhs top prize. PokerGuru Ambassador Arjanveer Singh ‘holdbaby’ Chadha placed runner-up for ₹7.75 Lakhs.
This is Vikranth Varma’s eighth title win of the year and also his best-recorded score of 2021. He also final-tabled the Sunday Superstack yesterday, and his Sunday grind earned him a collective ₹12.26 Lakhs. His top finishes include:
> 1st in the NPS #48 Mini Main Event Warm Up ₹50 Lakhs GTD for ₹11.05 Lakhs

Another NPS tourney that registered a bumper field was the ₹12 Lakhs GTD NPS #47 Marathon, where 1,319 entries led to a prize pool collection of ₹22.78 Lakhs. After a long-drawn run that lasted for over nine hours, the final two players decided to end it with a deal that handed Kumar ‘23offsuits’ Vatsal the NPS Gold Medal and ₹3 Lakhs. PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun ‘thepokeraja’ Mahesh finished runner-up, however, pocketing a bigger payday worth ₹3.59 Lakhs.
Kumal Vatsal made ITM finishes in the Sunday Slam Dunk, the Mini Main Event, and The Millionaire, collecting a cumulative ₹3.65 Lakhs. He currently boasts ₹81.19 Lakhs in recorded online winnings.
