There were five new champions named yesterday at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) 2020 Online Series currently underway at GGNetwork’s Asia-facing online operator, Natural8.com.
The star of the day was Singaporean pro Alex Wei Xiang Lee (cover image), playing under the moniker ‘DblBarrel,’ became the first-ever APT Online Series Main Event champion. Lee collected a career-high $91.35K in prize money for the win along with an APT Guardian Trophy. One of the headline events of the series, the $500 buy-in Main Event $200K GTD, logged in 1,377 entries across five starting flights to garner a prize pool worth $578K.
This has been a remarkable year for Lee, who had won two live titles at the Asia Millions 2020 series earlier in the year. These two live titles could have very easily been four as Lee took runner-up finishes twice at different stops. One of them was at the APT Vietnam High Roller for $15.97K. The APT live circuit regular, Lee has three APT live titles to go with this latest Main Event online title. With over $990K in live tournament earnings, Lee is ranked 4th on Singapore’s all-time money list.
The third Monster Stack event of the schedule played out two opening flights on Tuesday. Registering 254 entries, the tourney generated $71.52K in the prize pool with one fight left to go. Flight A chip leader, Japan’s ‘Dostoevsky’ (238,289), sits on top of the chip counts followed by Flight B chip leader ‘-MortenVM-’ (232,818), and ‘redrum’ (222,977).
Event #24 Short Deck champion ‘tikkipokka’ and Event #04 Progressive Bounty winner Dicky ‘Floatingworld’ Tsang added a second title each at the ongoing series yesterday.
‘tikkipokka’ outlasted a field 117 contenders including Lester ’mon$terDad’ Edoc heads-up to take down Event #32: High Rollers for $24.36K. The APT Korea Incheon 2019 Main Event winner Dicky ‘Floatingworld’ Tsang topped a 204-strong field to walk away with $7.46K as the prize in Event #33: NLHE Freeze-Out.
‘JACKPOT’ (Event #34: PLO for $2.22K), and ‘Buddha Kid’ (Event #35: NLHE Turbo for $3.06K) were the other side event winners on Tuesday!

Featured Event: $500 Main Event $200K GTD – Day 2
Total Entries – 1217
Prize pool – $578,075
Places Paid – 170
One of the headline events at the APT 2020 Online Series, the $500 Main Event $200K GTD, played down to a winner yesterday. The tourney logged in 1,377 entries (Flight A – 177, Flight B – 286, Flight C – 190, Flight D – 285, and Flight E – 279) to garner a prize pool worth $578K, almost thrice the $200K guarantee.
Day 2 began with 320 hopefuls (Flight A – 41, Flight B – 74, Flight C – 43, Flight D – 67, and Flight E – 95), and several among them fell out empty-handed as only 170 places got paid.
After five hours and half hours of tournament action, Singaporean pro Alex Wei Xiang Lee playing under the online moniker ‘DblBarrel’ etched his name as the first-ever APT Online Series Main Event champion! For the victory, Lee banked his biggest career cash of $91.35K. He also won an APT Guardian Trophy to add to his collection of three live APT trophies.
This has been a phenomenal year for Lee, who had won two live tourney titles at the Asia Millions 2020 series in January. He also finished runner-up on two occasions this year. One of them was at the APT Vietnam High Rollers.
Lee’s heads-up opponent was an anonymous user ’Olekonjole,’ who entered the final table as the chip leader. When heads-up started, Lee was ahead by 3.5:1 against ‘Olekonjole.’ Ten minutes later, ‘Olekonjole’ doubled up but was still some distance behind Lee.
The final hand of the tourney was dealt just two minutes later. Lee’s overtook ‘Olekonjole’s as the board opened top two-pair for the former.
