APT Online Series: ‘Beishadezhu2,’ Pete Chen & ‘Mathrandil’ Win Side Events; ‘TschuessiBaba’ Takes Down 2nd Title

The sixth day of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Online Series 2nd edition is now done and dusted. The series has been running on GGNetwork’s Natural8 since June 14, and there is still over a week to go before the action wraps up on June 28.

Friday saw another four starting flights of the APT Online Main Event playing out. This, combined with the three starting flights from Thursday, makes for a total of seven flights that have gotten done. Leading the charge after the seven flights is none other than the Flight E chip leader, India’s ‘somecrusher’ (552,173). Flight B chip leader, ‘chiqiao’ (359,829), ‘mrduckie’ (359,213), Flight F chip leader ‘LEN1234980’ (326,720), and Flight A chip leader Lester ‘mon$terDad‘ Edoc (301,121) hold the next top stacks.

The series has already played out two Monster Stack events, and a third one was on the Friday schedule. Boasting $250K in prize pool guarantees, the multi-flight tourney ran three starting flights yesterday. A total of 97 players survived the first three flights with Flight A chip leader ‘V.I.Pawn’ bagging the most massive stack of 235,095.

The biggest winner on Friday was ‘Beishadezhu2,’ who banked $18.20K for topping Event #89: High Roller. The Event #59: High Roller Turbo winner Lester ‘mon$terDad’ Edoc placed runner-up for $13.87K.

Natural8 Ambassador Pete ‘TurboPete’ Chen has been in phenomenal form at the ongoing series. Persisting with it, Chen won $11.79K after taking down Event #86: High Roller Deep Stack. This was Chen’s sixth final table appearance at the series and his first title victory. The title count could have easily been better as he has placed 2nd in three events already, each time missing the glory narrowly.

The $40K GTD High Roller Turbo saw ‘Mathrandil’ running away with the title victory for $8.43K after a heads-up deal with ‘Jack Salter’.

On Friday, the other headline victory belonged to ‘TschuessiBaba,’ who became the fourth player to win two events. The player won Event #85: Progressive Bounty and Event#87: PLO yesterday for a cumulative $11.26K.

The massive $1 Million guaranteed APT Main Event completed four more starting flights yesterday. The event added an impressive 410 runners from the four flights combined to add to the existing 397 entries.

Only 76 players advanced to Day 2 from the four starting flights that were played yesterday, taking the total tally of Day 2 survivors to 160.

The Flight E chip leader, India’s ‘somecrusher’ (552,173), holds the overall chip lead after the seven starting flights. Flight B chip leader, ‘chiqiao’ (359,829), ‘mrduckie’ (359,213), Flight F chip leader ‘LEN1234980’ (326,720), and Flight A chip leader Lester ‘mon$terDad‘ Edoc (301,121) round out the top five stacks taking all seven flights into account.

Flight H got underway at 1:30 PM today, followed by Flight I at 4:30 PM. Flight J begins at 7:30 PM and Flight K at 10:30 PM.

The third Monster Stack event at the series, boasted of 250K in prize pool guarantee, much bigger than its predecessors. The $200 buy-in tourney played out three of its eight starting flights on Friday, logging in 308 entries in total.

There are three more flights today and two tomorrow before Day 2 starts at 4.30 PM IST on Sunday.

Topping the 97 survivors after the first three flights was the Flight A chip leader ‘V.I.Pawn’ with a stack of 235,095. Close behind the overall chip leader is Flight C chip leader India’s ‘MistahBond’ (232,384), and Flight B chip leader ‘AAAAkid’ (219,952).

The $75K GTD High Roller was the biggest buy-in event of the day. The $1,000 buy-in tourney registered 77 contenders, falling 2 entries short of the advertised guarantee.

The top three places were awarded five-figure prizes. Topping them all was ‘Beishadezhu2,’ who banked $18.20K. Event #59: High Roller Turbo winner Lester ‘mon$terDad’ Edoc stood second and took home $13.87K, while ‘NeverGambol’ received $10.56K for placing third.

Racing past the competition was Natural8 Ambassador Pete ‘TurboPete’ Chen, who won $11.79K for the title victory. This was Chen’s sixth final table appearance at the series and his first title victory. Chen had notoriously finished 2nd in three events before this win, narrowly missing a title opportunity.

The runner-up ‘ganjinaMGM’ received a payout worth $8.93K.
