APT Online Series: Ho Bao Qiang Wins High Roller Turbo For $10.35K

It has been a dream run so far for the inaugural Asian Poker Tour (APT) 2020 Online Series that is taking place at GGNetwork’s Natural8.com. The series reached the half-way mark yesterday after completing 31 out of the scheduled 62 events.

Singapore’s ‘PetitFoxx’ continues to remain the biggest winner at the series so far for his victory in the $5,000 Super High Rollers for $53.38K. The Mini Main Event was another headline tourney that crowned Taiwanese pro and Natural8 Ambassador Pete Chen as the winner for $40.05K in cash prize and an APT Guardian trophy. ‘fish3098’, ‘readytoship’, and ‘Dosobyc’ round out the list of prominent winners for taking down two titles each.

The biggest draw on Monday was the Main Event that played out two more starting flights. The event added 475 entries yesterday to take the current field to 938 combined entries. A total of 225 survivors have reserved a seat for Day 2 so far, including the 110 players that survived yesterday. China’s ‘beibei’ (364,216), holds the overall chip lead after the four starting flights. Event #16: winner ‘AfternoonAA’ (362,356), ‘hki23’ (359,370), ‘pwandwan’ (331,944), and ‘Number_2’ (301,121) hold the next top stacks taking all four flights into account.

Event #29: $500 High Roller Turbo $15K GTD was the other head-turner yesterday. The tourney logged in 92 entries to generate a prize pool almost thrice that its $15K GTD worth $43.7K. Well-known APT live circuit pro Ho Bao ‘Yummers’ Qiang added an online APT title to name in the tourney after defeating ‘laiibhari’ (runners-up for $7.84K) heads-up to win $10.35K.

Lithuania’s ‘Dosobyc’ was the other big story of the day as he became the third player at the series to win two titles. He bested the 125-strong field in Event #28: $300 NLHE $15K GTD, including the anonymous player ‘Puzzzle’ (runner-up for $5.68K) heads-up, to win $7.66K.

‘MK FALCON’ (Event #26: NLHE Freeze-Out for $5.88K), ‘TheDuck1’ (Event #27: Progressive Bounty for $7.22K), and Simon ‘Fireburns’ Burns (Event #30: NLHE for $3.41K), all won APT online titles on Monday!

The $500 Buy-in Main Event completed two more starting flights yesterday. The event added an impressive 475 runners (Flight C – 190, and Flight D – 285) from the two flights combined to add to the existing 463 entries. The prize pool has already touched $445,550, more than double the $200K prize pool guarantee.

Only 110 players (Flight C – 43, and Flight D – 67) advanced to Day 2 from the two starting flights that were played yesterday, taking the total tally of Day 2 survivors to 225.

Flight E got underway at 1.30 PM today, followed by the Day 2 action that kicked off at 5.30 PM IST.

The flight A chip leader, China’s ‘beibei’ (364,216), holds the overall chip lead after the four starting flights. Event #16 winner ‘AfternoonAA’ (362,356), ‘hki23’ (359,370), ‘pwandwan’ (331,944), and ‘Number_2’ (301,121) round out the top five stacks taking all four flights into account.

Lithuania’s ‘Dosobyc’ became the third player at the series to win two titles. Just days after taking down Event #17: Progressive Bounty for $8K, ‘Dosobyc’ traversed a 125-strong field to win $7.66K and his second online APT Trophy.

Singapore’s Ho Bao ‘Yummers’ Qiang was the last player standing in the $500 buy-in High Roller Turbo. Qiang defeated ‘laiibhari’ (runners-up for $7.84K) heads-up to win $10.35K in prize money.

The 92-entry field almost tripled the $15K GTD with a prize pool collection of $43.70K.

Qiang jumped to 16th place on the ‘Player of the Series’ leaderboard after this victory. Qiang happens to be a well-known APT live circuit pro. Among his numerous APT achievements, the most highlighted was an APT High Roller victory in 2019. He has over $200K in live tournament winnings and is ranked 21st on Singapore’s all-time money list.
