APT Online Series: Natural8 Ambassador Phachara Wongwichit Wins PLO Championships For $11.69K

There were six more side event winners named on the eighth day of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) 2020 Online Series that’s taking place on GGNetwork’s Natural8.com. The series has played out 42 tourneys on the 62-event schedule, and paid out a guarantee-crushing $2.67 million in prize money already!

The featured tourney on Wednesday wad the $400 PLO Championships $25K GTD that crowned Thai pro and Natural 8 Ambassador Phachara Wongwichit playing under the username ‘Phachara W’ as the champion! Wongwicht derailed three out of his last final opponents to win $11.69K in cash prize along with the APT Guardian Trophy.

He is an APT live circuit regular with two APT Super High Roller titles under his belt. His latest and to date best APT live score he won in April 2019 when he won APT Manila Super Highrollers for approx. $21.98K. With over $1.45 million in live tournament earnings, Wongwicht sits on top of Thailand’s all-time money list.

The other big winner was Ireland’s ‘Steven van ZZZZZZ’, who took down the 3rd Monster Stack tourney at the series. He collected $24.81K for the win after making a heads-up deal with ‘singo618’ (runner-up for $22.31K).

The fifth High Roller Turbo event of the series drew 148 contenders to accumulate a $70.30K prize pool. ‘kirrard28’ was the last player standing and won $14.57K as the prize. This was the anonymous player’s third final table finish at the series. He had placed runner-up in the NLHE Freeze-Out for $4.22K and third in the Short Deck tourney for $1.44K.

‘PodPivkovich’ (Event #36: PLO for $2.71K), ‘omeroz01′ (Event #37: Progressive Bounty for $8.66K), and ‘AAFuxX’ (Event #39: NLHE Turbo for $2.59K) were the other side event winners on Wednesday.

The first single-day featured event of the series, the $400 PLO Championships $25K GTD, attracted a 150-strong field and like all other tourneys so far at the series, the $56K prize pool turned out to be more than twice the advertised $25K guarantee.

It took nine hours of tournament action to find a champion and good two and a half hours from that was dedicated towards the six-handed final table. Thai pro and Natural8 Ambassador Phachara Wongwichit playing under the username ‘Phachara W’ won the PLO Championships after derailing three of his last five opponents.

Wongwicht banked $11.69K in cash prize.

Wongwichit held a commanding 5:1 chip lead over ‘Jeff1010’ at the start of the heads-up play, and it all came to an end within minutes. On the last hand of the tournament, Wongwichit’s hit a set on the rundown against ‘Jeff1010’s .

Event #31: $300 Monster Stack $30K GTD – Day 2

The two-day-long Monster Stack logged in 549 entries (Flight A – 115, Flight B – 139, and Flight C – 295), generating a prize pool worth $154K, more than five times its advertised $30K GTD.

Only 193 players (Flight A – 41, Flight B – 50, and Flight C – 104) began Day 2, and the top 80 places got paid.

Once all was done and dusted, it was Ireland’s ‘Steven van ZZZZZZ’ who defeated ‘singo618’ heads-up after the duo decided upon a deal to win the title and cash prize worth $24.81K.

Event #38: $500 High Roller Turbo $15K GTD

This was the fifth High Roller Turbo event of the series and the biggest one yet with a turnout of 148 contenders. The event accumulated a $70.30K prize pool – more than four times the guarantee.

Outlasting the competition was ‘kirrard28,’ who won $14.57K in prize money. This was ‘kirrard28’s third final table appearance at the series, and this victory has catapulted him from 39th place to 11th place on the Player of the Series leaderboard. ‘JYFRmoon’ finished runner-up for $11.10K.

Ho Bao ‘Yummers’ Qiang, who had won the last High Roller Turbo, placed ninth in this one for $1,658.50.
