Over the past four days, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Philippines PHP 10 Million (~₹1.34 Crores) GTD Main Event has been a cauldron of intense action. With the excitement brewing up right from the two starting flights that registered a record-breaking 503-strong field, to Day 3 that played out with the final 70 finishers, competition has been stiff. Left now, after a thirteen-hour-long Day 3 are only eight contenders – all vying for the coveted APT title and the PHP 5,085,400 (~₹68.13 Lakhs) winner`s purse.

Team India`s run in the event was charted by Yasheel Doddanavar who incidentally was also the lone Indian in attendance. Doddanavar was among the top stacks to advance from Day 1A, and he maintained a workable stack on Day 2 as well. Bringing a stack of 115,000 to Day 3, Doddanavar was seen playing with aggression. He most notably scored a big double-up in Level 23 against Edgar Kim, a pot that saw his stack swell to 980,000. However, Doddanavar missed the final table by several spots, finishing his run in 15th place (PHP 306,600 ~ ₹4.11 Lakhs), falling at the hands of Jessie Supnet.

Also winding down today will be the Super High Rollers and the Short Deck (Shot Clock) events that are both down to their final tables. The PLO Hi and Short Deck High Rollers Single Day (Shot Clock) are the two tournaments slated to kickoff today.

Main Event – Day 3 Recap

Doddanavar’s nut straight dominated Kim’s one-pair, and just like that, his stack swelled to 980,000.

Doddanavar however soon got a bad beat, and the final hand saw Doddanavar move all in for his last 296,000. Doddanavar found a challenger in Jessie Supnet who made the call. Doddanavar tabled against Supnet’s , and though the board paired Doddanavar, he could still not catch up with Supnet’s ladies, falling in 15th place.

Earlier, the money bubble burst in Level 19. With 52 remaining, hand-for-hand was initiated. Several hands into the bubble round and it was Sze Chi Fu who saw his cracked by Lee’s . Fu’s elimination left the remaining 51 players in the money.

Sebastian Wong (14th for PHP 306,600), Victor Chen (16th for PHP 255,000), Joseph Sia (20th for PHP 212,900), Fu Bang Huang (33rd for PHP 147,900), David Erquiaga (46th for PHP 102,700), Tobias Peters (47th for PHP 102,700), Tetsuya Tsuchikawa (49th for PHP 102,700) and Samad Razavi (51st for PHP 102,700) were the notables who made ITM finishes.

Start-of-day chip leader Marc Rivera (12th for PHP 367,900) had maintained a healthy stack through the play but found himself in a tight spot once the field trimmed down to the final two tables. Rivera eventually fell at the hands of Jung Seung Mook who tabled pocket fours against his pocket sixes. A four on the turn and a pair of aces on the board saw Mook improving to a full house, ending Rivera’s title hopes.

The play was halted with the elimination of Maki Ikeda in ninth place (PHP 529,800). Ikeda moved all in with dominating Su Tian Hong who held . Hong, however, hit a patch of good luck on the rundown to eliminate Ikeda.

Coming into the final day, Christopher Mateo leads the eight-handed final table with a monster stack of 3.940 Million. Following Mateo are Jung Seung Mook (2,235,000) and Marvin Rettenmaier (1,710,000).
