Team India’s dominating run at the 2022 Asian Poker Tour (APT) Summer Festival Hanoi – VSOP continues unabated. After Ankit Jajodia’s spectacular third-place finish in the VND 5 Billion GTD Main Event, Amit Kaushik (cover image) has joined the list of APT trophy winners in the series.
The player from Kurukshetra, Haryana, championed over a 49-entry field in Event #18: Deep Stack Hyper Turbo to claim the VND 50.64 Million (~₹1.72 Lakhs) top prize. This was Kaushik’s second live title this year, marking the fourth title for Team India in the series. A heads-up deal saw Quang Vu pocketing a second-place payout worth VND 45.64 Million (~$1,949).
PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit Wadhawan came extremely close to capturing his career-first live title in Event #17: NLH Single Day but fell one spot short, finishing runner-up for VND 97.13 Million (~₹3.31 Lakhs). Tran Thanh Tung won the event for VND 145.70 Million (~$6,222).
Ha Van Tien shipped Event #15: Super Bounty Hunter for VND 173.55 Million (~$7,411). From India, Young Gun Anuj Yadav (10th for VND 15.07 Million, ~₹51,397), Akshay Nasa (21st for VND 8.72 Million, ~₹29,740), Nishant Sharma (22nd for VND 8.72 Million, ~₹29,740) and Young Gun Shardul Parthasarathi (23rd for VND 7.27 Million, ~₹24,794) cashed the event.
The second flagship event of the series, the VND 4 Billion GTD Championships Event, got underway on Wednesday. The first of the two starting flights, Day 1A, gathered 78 entries, with 28 runners advancing to Day 2. Ham Heung Chul (422,800) bagged the day-end chip lead. Anuj Yadav (105,000), Ritwik Khanna (92,000), and Kamal Kumar Sogani (51,800) were the Indian contenders who carried a stack to Day 2.
Amit Kaushik Wins Event #18: Deep Stack Hyper Turbo for VND 50.64 Million (~₹1.72 Lakhs)
Amit Kaushik triumphed over a field of 49 entrants in Event #18: Deep Stack Hyper Turbo to bank the lion’s share of the VND 190.12 Million (~$ 8,105) prize pool worth VND 50.64 Million (~₹1.72 Lakhs). He chopped the title heads-up with Vietnam’s Quang Vu (2nd for VND 45.64 Million) (~$1,949).
The IIT Roorkee alumni claimed the chip lead when the six-handed play was underway. The 2022 DPT ₹15K Bounty champion scored two double knockouts en route to capturing his second live title and his first APT trophy!
The first of the two double whammies resulted in the elimination of Jeong Seop Han (5th for VND 14.46 Million, ~$617) and Nguyen Dinh Hung (6th for VND 11.16 Million, ~$476). Kaushik’s overpowered Hung’s and Han’s , with the board running .
Soon after, Kaushik tank-called all in and again booted two players with a single bullet. Kaushik’s went up against Se Han Park’s and Myoung Joo Lee’s . Kaushik spiked an Ace on the board to dismiss Park in third place (VND 26.77 Million, ~$1,143) and Lee fourth (VND 19.34 Million, ~$825).
Kaushik entered the heads-up against Quang Vu, holding a 4:1 chip lead, but the latter refused to give up easily. Vu even managed to find double-ups to stay alive in the tournament. Ultimately, the duo opted for a heads-up chop and decided to play for the trophy instead. The Indian poker streamer eventually shipped the event when his bested Vu’s .

Tran Thanh Tung Win Event #17: NLH Single Day For VND 145.70 Million; Ankit Wadhawan Finishes Runner-Up For VND 97.13 Million (~₹3.31 Lakhs)
Event #17: NLH Single Day attracted 79 entries, creating a VND 536.41 Million (~$ 22,870) prize pool. Tran Thanh Tung clinched his first-ever APT title for VND 145.70 Million (~$6,222), while PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit Wadhawan collected VND 97.13 Million (~₹3.31 Lakhs) in second place. This was Wadhwan’s fourth cash of the series.
On the final hand, Wadhawan’s was cracked by Tung’s that spiked top pair on the runout.

Ha Van Tien Wins Event #15: Super Bounty Hunter For VND 173.55 Million
The two-day-long Event #15: Super Bounty Hunter culminated yesterday with Vietnam’s Ha Van Tien claiming his career-first APT title and the top prize of VND 173.55 Million (~$7,411). Fellow countryman Le Cong Vuong finished runner-up for VND 115.71 Million (~$4,941).
The event pulled in 158 entries, posting a VND 752.08 Million (~$32,065), along with a bounty prize pool of VND 474 Million (~$20,209).
The final hand saw Tien’s pitted against Vuong’s . The board ran , ending the latter’s run in second-place.
The #1 ranked player of the year, Young Gun Anuj Yadav, opened his scorecard at the series, placing 10th for VND 15.07 Million (~₹51,397). This was Yadav’s first live score in the South-Asian circuit.
Akshay Nasa (21st for VND 8.72 Million, ~₹29,740), Nishant Sharma (22nd for VND 8.72 Million, ~₹29,740), and Shardul Parthasarathi (23rd for VND 7.27 Million, ~₹24,794) were the other Indians who cashed the event.

Ham Heung Chul Headlines 28 Survivors on Day 1A VND 4 Billion GTD Championships Event
The VND 4 Billion GTD Championships Event is the second featured event of the series. The first of the two starting flights, Day 1A, played out on Wednesday, registering 78 entries. By the time the bags were brought out, only 28 players were left standing.
Korea’s Ham Heung Chul bagged the most giant stack of 422,800, with local players Vu Van Lich (266,700) and Dao Minh Phu (228,300) rounding out the top three names on the day-end chip counts.
A trio of Indians, Young Gun Anuj Yadav (105,000), Rising Star Ritwik Khanna (92,000), and Kamal Kumar Sogani (51,800), were among the Day 1A survivors.
The Day 1A survivors get a two-day break before returning for Day 2, which takes place on Friday, July 22 at 1 PM (local time). In the meantime, Day 1B got underway at 11 AM (local time) on July 21.
