Undeterred by the Coronavirus scare in the continent, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan stop at the Chinese Texas Hold ‘em Poker Club in Taipei City, Taiwan is going on as planned. The series kicked off on March 4 and will run a full roster of 26 events till March 15. Going down the history books on March 10 was the TW$33,000 buy-in Main Event. The featured tournament drew 82 runners across two starting flights. The final table played out yesterday, where coming out on top was New Zealander Hamish Crawshaw.
Crawshaw, has with this win, captured his first-ever APT Main Event title, pocketing TW$725,200 in prize money along with the APT Championship Ring and the APT Main Event Guardian trophy. Crawshaw had stormed into the final table as the table captain and eliminated four of his six opponents on the way to the top.
Not just this, he has had similar success in side events at the series as well. He championed the High Rollers Single Day to win a second title at the stop and TW$373,400. Ireland’s Mark Gruendemann finished runner-up.
The series has reached the halfway mark, and winning the most recent side event titles were Giz Fabrice (TW$11,000 NLHE for TW$114,400) and Oro Kossonogi (TW$9,900 NLHE for TW$111,900).

Leading the APT Player of the Series (POS) race at the moment is Hong Kong’s Chan Lok Ming. Ming shipped two events and cashed out in four more to accrue 824.46 points towards the POS race.
The second featured tournament of the series, the Championships Event, gets going today. The event features two starting flights, with Day 2 scheduled for March 13.
Coming back to the Main Event, the tournament accrued a TW$2,386,200 prize pool over the entry-field and paid nine places.
Day 2 ended with the elimination of Chi Jen Chu in 10th place. With Chu out on the money bubble, the remaining nine players bagged up for the final day.

On the very first hand on the final table, local pro Carter Ching Wei was eliminated in ninth place after his ace-jack were crushed by Vincent Huang’s ace-queen.
Less than 10 minutes later, Yi Wei Peng, who’d been crippled after losing a hand to Liu Chen Yi, jammed with jack-six. Crawshaw called with king-nine and managed to stay ahead through the board to send Peng packing in eighth place.
Vincent Huang was the next player to fall out, collecting a seventh-place payout after his ten-five got dominated by Chin Wei Khong’s king-ten.
Soon enough, Liu Chen Yi hit the rail in sixth place after running his pocket queens into Crawshaw’s pocket aces.
Another 30 minutes later, Hsien Hua Chin moved all-in preflop with ace-ten only to be called off by Chin Wei Khong`s pocket sevens that confirmed Chin`s departure in fifth place.
Several hands later, Chin Wei Khong shoved from the small blind with ten-four only to fall to Chi Jen Chu`s pocket aces.
Three-handed, it was Crawshaw still in command. Chi Jen Chu went on to lose a sizeable pot to Ho Cung Yi. He finally went out to Crawshaw when with the board open , Crawshaw triple-barreled, jammed on the river with . Chu called with . The latter’s straight eliminated Chu in third place.
The heads-up play saw Crawshaw starting out as a close to a 6-to-1 favorite against Ho Cung Yi. The duo battled it out for the next four hours before the final hand saw both players all-in on the board. Ho was holding for a top pair and flush draw versus Crawshaw`s for two-pair. The river came a brick for Ho, and just like that, Crawshaw won his first-ever APT Main Event title!

Battling through a field of 11 entries, Hamish Crawshaw claimed his second title at the series by winning the TW$54,000 buy-in High Rollers Single Day for a TW$54,000 top prize.
The event generated a TW$533,500 prize pool and paid out the top two finishers. In the end, Crawshaw defeated Ireland’s Mark Gruendemann heads-up to the title. The latter took home a TW$160,100 payout for finishing runner-up.

Switzerland’s Giz Fabrice triumphed over a field of 31 entries to win the APT Taiwan TW$11,000 NLHE. Fabrice pocketed TW$114,400 in prize money after defeating local pro Chi Jen Chen heads-up.
Accomplished Japanese pro Iori Yogo finished third.

The 10th event at the stop was the TW$9,900 buy-in NLHE that played out amid 30 hopefuls. The event collected a TW$261,900 prize pool, assuring a payout to the final five finishers.
In the end, it was Israel’s Ori Kossonogi, who defeated Hong Kong’s Chan Lok Ming heads-up to win TW$111,900.
